Caesar froze as he looked into his friends eyes Mark was missing was he ok was Trish and the baby alright why would he take off questions battered the inside of his brain as he snapped out of his whirlpool of guilty thoughts "Trish the baby are they" Caesar caught himself when the sound of gunfire started up again "they're both fine I wish I could say the same for the nursery he trashed it bottles everywhere he smashed everything" Jordon said Caesar grunted in disbelief Something was wrong Mark would never lash out in drunken madness come to think of it Caesar couldn't remember the last time his human father got drunk and he was certainly never violent
"Mark would never do that" Caesar signed firmly Jordon nodded in agreement "that's why I'm out here looking for him he would never take off especially not now he's got a kid" there was silence for a moment as two of the helicopters ceased fire on Jordon's car and started toward them "they're headed straight for us" one of the orangutan's signed in fear Jordon Caesar and Rocket looked at each other almost as fearful as the orang after a moment one of the helicopters were hovering above them "you think they see us" Rocket asked Caesar shrugged and looked at the group surrounding him they were looking to him to keep them alive and safe "alright you guys get the hell outta here I'll keep them off your backs" Jordon said trying to place the symbol that was now staring him in the face
Caesar shook his head at once Mark was missing and he didn't want the uncertainty of Jordon's fate on his shoulders on top of everything else "not a chance" Caesar said aloud making Jordon cringe the sound of the apes voice really didn't sit right with him "you got a better idea I'm expendable you ain't and they need you now the lot of you get outta here" Jordon said firmly sweeping a finger over the heads of the surrounding apes Caesar hated it but in the back of his mind he knew Jordon was right he nodded and was about to signal the others to follow him when he spotted Koba barely restraining himself from going after Jordon
Before he could intervene Koba started signing at the human man venhemtly "how can we trust you humans always lie" before Jordon could answer Kobas accusation they were interrupted by a shout coming from the right of them Jordon held up a finger sarcastically and smiled as he looked Koba in the eye "hold that thought" he said and the apes watched as Jordon strutted over to a human who appeared to be part of a ground unit aimed a gun at his head knowing there was likely more of them Jordon calmly but swiftly winded him with a forceful knee to the gut before taking his gun various symbols and tattoos flashing up in the dimming light as the man dropped to the ground trying to reclaim his composure and breath Jordon stamped on his face breaking his nose and knocking him out Jordon kicked him again before turning back to the apes triumphantly "that answer your question" he chuckled
Caesar grinned and chuckled at Kobas crestfallen expression the chimp clearly didn't know how to react to the mans actions and he didn't get the chance before Jordon raised the gun to point just behind the group "get down their surrounding us" he shouted Caesar grasped the closest apes to him and pulled them to the ground as three loud gunshots echoed through the otherwise silent woods "where are they coming from" Rocket signed to Caesar as Jordon lowered the weapon and came to their side "how far away are the others I don't want to draw these guys to them by mistake" Jordon whispered Koba and the others regarded Jordon suspiciously what he was asking for was sensitive information Caesar however knew Jordon well enough to know that he only wanted to help
"Maurice is moving them deeper into the woods where it's denser brush" Caesar replied as the helicopter above them turned on a flood light "ok we need to move I'm willing to bet these guys aren't cops not with these weapons" Jordon said turning over the gun in his hands Caesar nodded in agreement and gestured for the others to stay close
