Chapter 9: robin hood

Cornelia calmed down a little as she felt the reassuring embrace of her friend they had been driving for a few minutes and now that the loud bangs of the humans guns had stopped her confidence was returning and she was reassured to know that she would soon be meeting her leaders human caregiver after hearing of her kindness and of Caesar's insistence that humans could be kind Cornelia was determined to try and believe him "we need to let the others know" the human in the back said Cornelia's nerve crumbled again when she recognised the man as a technician who worked at gensys although she had only been imprisoned there for a week or two she remembered him subjecting her to their cruel experiments and found herself feeling very unsafe being so close to him

She noticed Koba was even more on edge he looked to be barely containing his urge to murder the human then she reminded herself that he had also been at gensys and for a lot longer than she had when the human pulled out a device from his pocket Koba lost control and seized his neck "leave him" Caesar ordered as the car swerved reluctantly Koba tightened his grip and signed one handed to his leader "he has weapon" Cornelia and Maurice both turned to look along with Rocket who had to crouch on his seat to look over the head rest in the mans hand was a wide black device of some sort and it brightened up as the man gasped and trembled as Koba choked him on the screen was an image of a man with black hair and bright brown eyes skin the colour of warm sand and a wide closed mouth smile she didn't recognise him "it's a phone it's a phone" the man gasped as Kobas grip tightened bruising the skin of the humans neck

"Let him go" Caesar demanded scowling as the car behind got within touching distance angrily Koba dropped the man and slumped down into the footwell frustratedly slamming a hand on the seat Franklyn gasped loudly and picked himself up before dialling Jordon's phone number it rang for a minute before a voice answered and Caesar visibly relaxed "Robert I'm gonna call you back now is not a good time" Jordon said bitterly as they heard swearing in the background and the sound of a baby crying "I know where Mark is listen I need you to meet us at Whole foods Market can you do that" Franklyn asked cutting his eyes to Caesar as he spoke the ape nodded and made a sharp left hand down a side street "Franklyn we have five police cars chasing us and A CPS car that keeps trying to cut us off now is not a good time" Jordon snapped before Trish's voice cut in stern but even at the same time

"Jordon shut up for a second Franklyn where is Mark" she asked her voice catching on her fiancé's name Franklyn looked at the apes and cleared his throat "he's with Anvil they kidnapped him" Franklyn informed them there was silence for a while before Jordon spoke up "Franklyn the police and CPS are after Sofia if I pull over even for a second they will catch us and take her we can't take the risk of coming to meet you" Franklyn and Caesar exchanged a lost look before Caesar slammed on the gas and they went even faster leaving their persuers in a blinding cloud of black smoke "where are they right now" Caesar grunted aloud "where are you guys right now" Franklyn asked quickly as the others scrambled to find hand holds as Caesar hurtled the car down the street barely missing passing cars and an elderly man who was attempting to cross the road

"err we're on California street going toward downtown why" Jordon asked "tell them to meet us at whole foods the more of us there are the bigger chance we stand" Caesar signed one handed as they rounded a corner practically flying over a speed bump "meet us at whole foods trust me on this" Franklyn said Jordon swore and blared his horn as the sound of screeching tires was heard in the background followed by A babys cry of terror Maurice and Cornelia let out quiet hoot pants of concern as silence suddenly came from the other end "you guys ok" Franklyn asked holding Caesar's gaze in the rear view mirror it was a few moments before Becky's voice was heard "we're ok we'll meet you at whole foods CPS just cut in front of us Jordon had to slam on the breaks" a sigh of relief echoed through the car as Caesar slowed down "we'll see you soon" Jordon's voice came through the phone before he hung up
