Confused Erica picked her way through the woods following the trail Mark had left after seeing a furry hand grab him by the neck and hearing what sounded like a fight she had followed him hoping to apologise but as she got further from the camp she began to second guess herself "what kind of information" she heard Mark ask an unseen person "does the name Travis GreyStoke sound familiar to you" Mark asked Caesar growled that name was very familiar and he was starting to understand that his people were in more danger than ever
"Who is Travis GreyStoke" Maurice asked from Caesar's side Caesar couldn't contain his anger any longer his teeth stayed bared as Mark explained "Travis GreyStoke is a mercenary he works for a group called Anvil they're in league with Gensys he is also the same asshole responsible for the 2003 incident where we all ended up as headline news cause he killed Will" Mark explained Maurice shook his head regretfully as Koba chimed in getting right in Marks face "why you help them" the chimp signed snarling in Marks face Mark looked directly at Caesar before dropping the bomb they had been dreading "oh you think I had a choice they put a gun to my kids head " Mark shouted losing control he temporarily forgot that all of the apes were much stronger than him and two of them had already tried to beat him into next week
Two hundred paces shy of the clearing Erica stopped at the sound of Marks shouting and cocked her head to the side who had held a gun to his child's head and what didn't he have a choice about "Would you like to shout any louder cause I don't think they quite heard you in New York" Caesar signed coming between them despite his commanding demeanour Mark couldn't help but notice Caesar was half a foot shorter than him "what's Travis planning is he going to try and kill us or do they intend to ship us all back to gensys" Caesar asked placing a hand on Marks shoulder Mark shook his head and looked away "I don't know it's GreyStoke that sick bastards capable of anything" Mark said resigned
Caesar nodded and looked at Maurice and Rocket "is there anyway we can stay in contact so you can tell us when you know more" Maurice asked Mark rolled his eyes "yeah if you have a phone that they don't know about I lost mine when they grabbed me god I hope they're ok" Mark admitted the memory of his absent phone reminded him of holding his baby while watching the mercenaries destroy the nursery hiding behind a tree Erica felt her cheeks burning with anger this man was hiding a lot from them and she found herself wondering why he and the apes were so comfortable around each other of course she knew that the apes had come from captivity but after the events on the bridge and the actions of anvil she would of expected them to reject most human contact
"This clearing is exactly in the middle of our two camps if we meet here in a few days and maybe you'll have more information for us we need to know where they patrol how much they already know and what their plans are" Caesar signed Mark cackled and nodded amazed as always by Caesar's unnatural level of intelligence "you need a Trojan horse" He commented Caesar nodded and then looked passed Mark at a tree just passed the clearing Erica winced when she caught one of the apes eyes the bright green flecks seemed to stab at her morals "we're being watched" Koba signed also spotting what Caesar had Marks smile evaporated and he spun around prepared to silence whatever eyes had grown wise to their alliance
"Fuck oh shit" Erica whispered as she backed away from the clearing and started running hoping to get back to base before Mark guessed it was her spying on them "I better get back we'll meet back here in two days now I know where you guys are hiding I can keep leading GreyStokes guys on a wild goose chase" Mark said optimistically before he started walking back Caesar let out a deep breath and puffed out his chest he stayed still for a moment watching as his father figure strolled back to the very same humans that had made their lives hell since he had turned three years old
