Is it a good idea? Absolutely not.

Am I doing it anyway? Yup.

I hop of out my car and greet Elton at the gate. He welcomes me with a hug, "How you doing, Y/N?"

"Oh, y'know." I sigh, hugging him back. Over Elton's shoulder, I watch as Sam comes out, his camera in his hand.

He bounces over to us, giving me a hug as well. He grips me tightly, almost like he's trying to release the guilt he's been trapping. I hug him back with equal strength as a way to assure him that none of this was his fault.

"Okay," Elton claps his hands together eagerly, "Corey dragged Colby out of his room to go get Tendergreens, so we have a little over an hour to get this done." He leads us over to Colby's car, which he pulled away from the garage to sit in the center of the driveway. Three large boxes circle the car.

I have no idea what's in them, Elton gave me very little details of what exactly this revenge entails. All he told me was it's for a video and Colby wouldn't be home. And even though Colby and I haven't been speaking, I've grown close to the roommates over the past couple months, and I've really missed them.

Sam starts recording, and Elton starts the intro, explaining how he's starting an official prank war on the house, with Colby being his first target.

He tosses me a box cutter, "Y/N, would you mind showing everyone what's in the boxes?" He smirks.

I flip out the blade and glide it across the tape, tearing open the box. My mouth drops, "No fucking way!" I laugh, excitement growing in me.

Sam steps closer to see for himself, "Dude!" He exclaims with a smile, "Colby's gonna be pissed!"

I yank out the giant bag of packing peanuts so Sam can get it on camera. Sam props the camera up at an angle that will capture all of us around the car. Each of us takes a bag and start spilling them in through the windows.
We both laugh as Elton manages to miss and dumps a quarter of his bag onto the pavement, muttering curses to himself. By the time all the bags are empty, Colby's car is filled up to the center of the steering wheel.

Elton starts recording the results of the interior when his phone starts ringing. He answers the FaceTime from Corey, and I quickly back up so I'm not seen, "Hey! We'll be home in like, five minutes. Do you need anything before we get back?" Corey speaks nonchalantly to cover us.

Elton glances at me then back to his phone, "I've been craving takis! Do you mind grabbing some from the gas station since Colby's been hoarding the bag in his cave?" He says to buy me enough time to leave.

"Fuck you, Elton!" I watch as Colby grabs the phone from Corey. His face gets bigger on the screen as he looks at something. His face appears to go cold, "Is that Y/N's car on the curb? Is she there?"

Shit.

Sam and I exchange anxious looks as he tries to keep me from panicking, whispering to me that everything is okay.

"Do you know how many people around here drive Hyundai's?" Elton plays it off. I exhale with relief as Colby drops it and doesn't question it any further.

They end the call, and we all laugh to relieve the tension, "I should get going." I sigh, flicking my head towards my car.

Sam shuts the camera off, and they both give me hugs goodbye. I thank them for inviting me to help with this, it was oddly therapeutic.

"Don't be a stranger, okay?" Sam stops me before I get to my car, "And again, I'm so sorry about everything.."

"Sam," I give him a weak smile, "It really isn't-"

"I know, I know. He's my best friend, but what he did to you was just wrong. You mean a lot to Kat, so you mean a lot to me and I hate that he hurt you like that. For what it's worth, he's been spending every day drinking by himself in his room." He rambles.

The familiar growl of Corey's mustang starts to grow closer as it enters the development.

"We'll talk more later?" I offer as I hurriedly get in my car. He nods and jogs back into the yard.

Just as I pull off, Corey's car turn round the corner behind me.

I make it around the block, hoping Colby didn't see me.
