Comeback

"At last, you accepted our invitations!" abot langit ang ngiti sa akin ni Daen.

ㅤ

Buwan na ang nakalipas at kahit mahirap ay nakayanan ko makapagtapos. I finally graduated high school after a lot of struggles. Dahil graduation naman na ay pumayag na ako ng sumama sa gala nila Daen nang inaya nila ako.

We tour around Vancouver and at the end, we decided to have a picnic in Stanley Park. Naglatag sila ng blanket sa tapat ng Lost Lagoon at iniligay ang mga pagkain na dala. It is a very calm and harmonious scenery. We are just talking about our school experiences and sometimes will laugh about the things we find hilarious. Ang sarap sa pakiramdam dahil kahit ngayon lang nila ako nakasama sa gala nila ay hindi nila pina-feel sa akin na bago lang ako. They made me feel comfortable.

Naiwan kami ni Daen sa may blanket nang humanap sila ng magagandang view para makapagpicture. Iyong iba naman ay nagrollerblading. Hindi ako sumama dahil masakit na ang paa ko.

"You'll go back to the Philippines, right?"

ㅤ

I nodded at Daen's question. Bumuntonghininga ako at pinagmasdan ang lagoon.

ㅤ

"I need to."

ㅤ

I need to go back home. My mom's not getting any better so I felt guilty for leaving her alone there while she's obviously still mourning my father's death. The docotr said she's in vegatative state. Tuwing iniisip ko na mag-isa lang si Mommy habang hindi siya okay, though may mga kasamang nurses, ay kinakain ako ng guilt.

"We will surely miss you," Daen said, teary-eyed. Hindi ko maiwasang malungkot din.

ㅤ

"Even though we've only been together for a while, I want you to know that I'm happy for the time we spent."

ㅤ

I looked up to prevent my tears from falling. "I'll miss you all too, for sure."

ㅤ

I'm really grateful that I've found Daen, Grey, and our other friends here. They may not know what happened to me but they still accept me for who I am. They didn't ask me any questions and yet they understand why I am sometimes distant from them.

ㅤ

They are one of the reasons why I endured everything and did my best to graduate.

ㅤ

"Mommy... I've missed you!"

ㅤ

Agad kong yinakap si Mommy nang makarating ako sa bahay pagkatapos ng labinganim na oras na nasa ere. She didn't respond of course. Nakatulala lang ito at wala sa sarili. The doctor said she still haven't recovered. That's why we hire nurses to monitor her health.

I was with my mom the whole summer. Bumawi ako sa mga buwan na nakalipas at inalagaan ko siya. Minsan naman ay sila Symoune at Killuash ang kasama ko.
