I had miraculously avoided Neville all day. I was never someone to take embarrassment well. I wish nothing more in these moments to go back in time.

Thank Merlin there was a party tonight.

I was getting ready in my dorm alone, doing a sort of smudged eyeliner look that would look good in the bad lighting of the dark common room. As I was just finishing up my lipgloss, there was a gentle knock on my door.

I walked over and opened my door, peeking my head out.

"Gwen? What are you doing here?" I asked, opening the door wider and leaning against the frame.

"Sorry to bother, I was just wondering if you could help me get ready for the party? I don't typically go but the prefects were pretty adamant that house attendance is mandatory," She said.

"Yeah sure, come in," I say stepping aside and letting her walk past, "Sorry my rooms a mess, I wasn't expecting company."

"It's fine. Mines worse."

"Do you have an outfit?" I asked, noticing her lack of supplies.

She shook her, "I can put something together, I just really needed help with my hair," She replied.

I have to admit, this is a bit strange. I sit next to her for one potions class and she wants to be friends? I guess it's fine but there was something off. Or maybe I'm too judgmental.

Uh, sure. I can curl it for you," I said walking into my bathroom. I hadn't done my hair yet but I was just going to put it in a ponytail, nothing special.

"Would you? That'd be great," She replied graciously.

I got my curling want and started working. I wondered if Neville would ever let me straighten his waves out as I worked. It was a bit awkward, no conversation seemed to stay alive very long and we just stayed quiet for most of the time.

There was a way to style hair magically, but when it came to hair, I couldn't risk it. Not with my mediocre charms skills.

"There you go," I say, running my fingers through her short blonde hair to loosen the curls.

"Thank you so much," She said standing up, "Uh, I'll go get dressed now, I'll see you at the party."

She walked out of my dorm without another word. I shook the worry out of my head and slipped on my dress. It was black with a cowl neckline and hugged my waist perfectly and the skirt looked like a calla lily bloomed around my waist and flowed down to my knees. I paired it with my black YSL heels with gold letters and some gold jewelry.

I looked at myself in the mirror, running my hands around my waist and feeling myself, internally hyping myself up and letting my worries fade away.

I headed downstairs, the common room decorated with green low lights and music blasting. About half of the people I expect to arrive had already shown up and were scattered throughout the room. I quickly found my friend group and walked over.

Theo whistled and I did a spin, showing off my outfit.

"You look so great," Draco said.

"As do you," I said, patting the front of his suit jacket and straightening his tie. We all continued to greet and shower compliments on each other for the next few minutes before I excused myself to look for Neville.

I walked around and saw a tall redhead across the room. Did not want to see any of those. Finally, my gaze landed on Hermione and I headed over to her.
