I still remember the first fall of snow, and how it glistened as it fell

The whole of Hogwarts was taken aback and astonished to witness Sirius Black courting Celeste Malfoy.

Excluding classes, Sirius would be found gazing at the girl, admiring the very way she walked.

Selene had never seen her sister so flustered.

Marlene, Lily and Alice found the entire thing rather amusing. When Sirius as so simply held the door for her, she would flush and smile weakly.

It had been nearly three months since the start of term, the weather seeping into winter temperatures. The leaves had all fallen and died away, and now they waited for the first snow.

"Professor Slughorn has sent invitations for his Christmas party," Lily called out to Celeste in their dorm as an owl departed from their window. The purple envelope was unmistakable.

Celeste groaned. "I don't want to go, not after his other dinners. They are so dull."

"We're allowed to bring a partner," Lily said, a smirk tugging at her lips.

"Wonderful. You can bring Potter," Celeste said teasingly.

Lily flushed.

"I saw you two gazing into each others eyes in the library the other day," Celeste said accusingly, amusement dancing in her eyes.

Alice slowly looked up from her book Herbology 101 with a grin. Marlene. who was sprawled on her bed choked back a laugh. Lily shot her a venomous glare.

"It's alright to admit something," said Celeste, her eyes sparkling.

Lily set the letters down and looked around as if searching for an excuse. "Fine," she said exasperated. "Potter has turned out to not be... completely insufferable."

"I can hear the wedding bells," Marlene sighed dreamily.

"No, no," Lily said airily. "There will be no wedding."

"Not until we graduate," Celeste agreed.

"Well you're to ask Sirius to go with you, aren't you?" Lily shot back, teasingly.

Celeste felt her face burn. "Well, truthfully I have to."

"Oh, don't act as if you don't enjoy his attention," Marlene huffed out a laugh.

"Well, moving on," Celeste said loudly in attempt to change subjects. "That Charms essay-"

"Oh no," Alice exclaimed, catching on at once. "Go ask him right now!"

"If you don't want to ask him, you could bring me," Marlene said winking.

Lily had been gazing out the window with a placid smile until her eyes suddenly widen with realization. With great excitement, she pushed it open. "Girls, look! The first snow!"

The other three girls dropped everything at once and scrambled for a glimpse. Sure enough, gusts of sparkling white snowflakes were falling from the sky. Marlene threw open her wardrobe in search for something, and wrapped a scarf around her neck. Without wasting a word, the others followed suit in digging out winter attire.

It seemed that the entire castle and caught on quickly, because it appeared as if the entire school was outside. Students were scattered about the grounds in groups. Those most daring decided to hang out around the edge of the Dark Forest, though it didn't seem so dark in the beauty of the snow. After several hours, the ground was already a few inches high with snow. The Black Lake was beginning to freeze over, though it was not deemed safe for skating yet.

Celeste felt something soft hit the back of her head, and she whirled around at once but was surprised to see him. "Regulus!" she laughed, shaking the snow from her hair. She hadn't seen the younger Black brother in years.

He was taken by surprise. "Celeste! I'm so sorry, I thought you were someone else."

She laughed. "It's alright. I haven't seen you in forever!"

Regulus grinned. "The last time I saw you, you were trying to climb a tree at my house."

The memory resurfaced and she doubled over in a fit of laugher. "And you trying to get me to come down," she recalled. "And you were annoying me, so I jumped down. Then for whatever reason, you ran under me!"

The two had begun to walk. "I was trying to catch you," Regulus snorted. "If you got hurt your parents and mine would have been livid."

"But you didn't, and I just fell on top of you," she responded, flatly.

"Right," he rolled his eyes.

Celeste grinned goofily. "Or what about that time we were at the Greengrass Easter garden party-"

"Alright," Regulus said loudly and frantically. He side eyed her and they burst into peals of laughter.
