...

They tried to take her pride and steal her dignity. But Celeste refused to see that come about.

On a perfectly peaceful Sunday morning, she was storming down the corridors. Frightened students darted out of her way.

"Rosier.

Rosier smiled and folded his arms, waiting for her to continue. "Alright, Angel? Or should I say fiancé?"

"You can shut the hell up. I will never marry you," she spat.

"Was it not made enough? You can't get out of it. If word gets out, you'll be ruined."

"Nobody tells me what to do," she growled. "My life is a sum of my choices. Not someone else's crimes."

"Oh, how poetic! Like I said," he chuckled. "If word gets out..."

Celeste scoffed. "Are you blackmailing me? A Malfoy?"

Rosier hesitated and glared. "You're a girl. Remember your place as my second. You should be grateful for me. Nobody wants you, now that you're a Gryffindor. Even Black didn't want you."

"I am a woman," she said. Her voice was growing louder and angrier, but steady as ever. "The heiress of the Malfoy house. I will not be bullied by someone like you. You'll never be able to ruin me. But go right ahead! I'd like to see you try."

He held her steel gaze, turned and left.

Seconds later, Marlene, Lily, and Alice came hurling out of the shadows, laughing hysterically.

"You are so badass," Marlene cheered, tackling Celeste into a hug. Celeste smiled and hugged her right back.

Unbeknownst to them, Sirius passed right by and stopped to look at the scene. He smiled proudly and continued along.

"I haven't been very truthful to you all," Celeste admitted, smiling sheepishly. "and I'm still not entirely accustomed to your ways that are meant to be normal. But I hope you'll teach me."

Alice grinned. "Of course!"

Lily smiled eagerly and nodded. Being a muggleborn, she didn't fully understand the pureblood system. But she tried very hard to, and Celeste was most grateful to her.

"You won't marry him," Marlene said, letting Celeste rest her head on her shoulder. She wrapped an arm comfortingly around her. "We'll make sure of it."

"You're all god-sends," Celeste sighed. "Thank you, though. I can't imagine life without you all now."

"Yes, well we have to make it up to you for all the things you let us borrow," Alice giggled.

"We're all sisters now!" declared Lily.

"Sister Lilith, shall we head forth to lunch?" grinned Marlene, dramatically offering Lily her arm.

"Very well," the red-head agreed. "I hear they will be serving banoffee pie!"

Looping arms and sharing unsaid words of endearment, they took off down the corridors, with the continual outbursts of laughing.

...

"I know you don't want to talk about it. But I'm going do it anyways."

"Marlene," Celeste groaned, burying her face into a pillow.

"Come on!" the blonde pleaded, fighting back a grin. "You and-"

"We're a lost cause," Celeste argued. "We were forced to be together, with a rocky start. It's no surprise we turned out this way."

"Who are we talking about?" Lily asked, strolling into the dorm.

"You know who," Marlene sang, falling back into her bed with a soft thump.

Lily paled. "Why do you sound so happy about that?"

"You kn- OH." Marlene blanched for a moment before snorting. "Well obviously not the murderer. I meant Sirius Black."

"Oh," Lily said with evident relief. "What about him? James said that Sirius tried to-" She paled again.

Celeste grinned, catching on at once. "What did he say, Lilyflower?"

"When have you ever said Potter's first name?" Marlene sat up and narrowed her eyes suspiciously. "Evans, what have you been doing? Or in other words, where were you before you walked into his room?"

"I was in the.. library," Lily said stubbornly. "And I've called Potter by his first name before. None of you have noticed. And where is Alice?"

"Don't change the subject!" sang Celeste.

Lily flushed red. "I only ran into Potter and spoke a few words with him. That's all."

Marlene folded her arms. "Potter stopped asking you out lately. Why's that?"

"Well... you remember months ago when he said that if I went out with him just once, he'd stop asking me?"

"You did it! Lily Evans you deceitful girl!" Celeste cried out, rolling on her bed with laughter. "When was this?"

"WHAT?" Marlene shouted loudly, scrambling off her bed. "Are you seeing him still?" Her excitement was bouncing off the walls.

Lily regained her composure. "N-no, I've only been speaking to him more often. He's not entirely terrible. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to bed."

"A graceful save by Miss Evans as she retreats to the bathroom," Marlene narrated dramatically, falling back into her bed. "Huffing with annoyance - though we all know she's amused by her extremely attractive friends - Miss Lilypad rolls her eyes and closes the door behind her!"

Celeste laughed, falling quiet again.

"Miss Celeste - the second most attractive person in school shares her amusement! Say, what are your thoughts on a certain Mr. Sirius Black?"

She snorted. "Mr. Sirius Black is a mostly tolerable git who enjoys strutting through the halls. Any thoughts about him are forbidden in my brain."

"Miss Celeste's words are very wise and agreeable. For our last question of the day, I ask, may I borrow those burgundy gloves you have tomorrow?"

"Miss Celeste agrees and will be falling asleep shortly."
