Celeste, Lily, Marlene and Olivia were scattered through the room. Keeping their heads low, they skirted around the edges of the dance floor, listening to the ongoing side conversations, pretending to enjoy viewing the dancing.
It was forty minutes in when Celeste struck gold - information that even she hadn't learned in the few meetings she'd attended so far.
The pair of men were speaking in hushed tones. But not hushed enough.
"It's all ending," the shorter one was saying excitedly. "It's all sure to end soon. The Dark Lord's plan is something of genius, isn't it?"
Celeste quietly sipped her third flute of champagne as she slowly passed behind them.
"Oh, certainly!" the taller one grinned. "Who would've thought there were traitors among Dumbledore's army? And how easy it was to find one?"
Her blood ran cold as the men chuckled. If there was a traitor spy in the Order... it would be her instant downfall. Her entire reputation would be slaughtered and burned in no time at all. Terror held her breath as she waited for their next words.
"Can't wait to meet the bloke. When he's coming to his first meeting?"
The taller one shrugged. "I think He's still interrogating him. Y'know, seeing if he's really turned for our side."
The other one groaned. "Goyle, can you just imagine the amount of information he's holding out on us? I can barely wait for this war to end. Those mudbloods are just waiting around to die. We ought to put them out of their misery already."
"Didn't know you were so bloodthirsty, Crabbe," Goyle laughed. "Not to worry. I'm sure he'll tell us when to launch that attack on Hogwarts soon."
The floor seemed to rush from under her. Celeste darted away from Crabbe and Goyle, searching for the girls. Their job was finished. They had all the crucial information that they needed.
Celeste spied Lily not far from the drinks table. "Susie!" she called, smiling widely.
Lily's gaze instantly snapped to her, relief filling her eyes. "Celeste."
"You guys can go now, I found plenty information," Celeste whispered. "I'll need to stay behind, but I think it should be fine for you girls to slip out."
