Lotus could hear the ringing in her ears as she slowly sat up, she felt a tap on her leg, looking up it was Raya.
She spoke but the ringing in her ears were so loud that it drowned out what she was saying. "What?" she said.
And just like with a snap of the finger, her hearing came back in. She could now hear loud yelling coming from outside of the car.
"Get out of the car! Do it now!" A police officer, who happened to be parked nearby for patrol, yelled as he pointed his gun at someone in the car that hit them.
Raya, Lotus and Tiny all got out of the truck, they were all fine with the exception of Tiny hitting her head on the window, and Lotus slamming into the left side of the door as the car collided with them. Raya and Tiny felt a slight pain from the airbags, but nothing that they couldn't shake off.
The door to the other car swung open, and out stepped Reese with his hands up. He had an evil gleam in his eyes, as he glared in Lotus's direction.
"Get down on the gro—" The police officer was interrupted by three gunshots ringing out, Raya swiftly shielded Lotus with her body as they started ducking as well as the officer who ran for cover.
They heard a heavy thud, followed by something metallic falling onto the ground. They slowly stood up, their eyes nearly bulging out of their heads, realizing that Reese was now face down on the ground, his crimson blood beginning to pool around him.
"Get down! Put your hands in the air!" The officer then turned his attention onto Tiny, who was blankly staring at Reese's deceased, bullet ridden body.
"T-Tiny?" Lotus stammered out, as her and Raya gaped at her in pure shock. She got down on the ground, still focusing on Reese's body.
"He can't hurt anymore innocent children," she finally spoke, the police officer kicking the gun away from her and pulling out his handcuffs to cuff her.
In the distance, the sirens of an ambulance and backup were growing louder by the second. After the police officer was done cuffing Tiny, he rushed over to Reese, checking for a pulse.
"Are you ladies okay?" he asked them, once he confirmed that Reese was officially deceased.
Raya shook her head, grabbing Lotus's arm. "No sir, she needs to go to the hospital." she spoke, Lotus shooting her a confused look. "They're rushing Tedric to the hospital, you need to go be wit' him. I'll stay behind and deal wit' this." she whispered in her ear.
Lotus stared back at her, a couple of tears now streaming down her face as her eyes went wide once again. "Oh my God," she cried, throwing her hand over her mouth.
"I'll have Ranita pick me once I'm thru' here, once you get there, let the others know what happened. Okay?" Raya leaned forward a little, wiping her tear stained face with her thumb.
Lotus's mouth was open but nothing came out, as she tried to wrap her mind around what was happening. Raya simply pulled her into a tight hug, rubbing her back.
