hi icy gang. hope the wait wasn't TOO long. 😊"Let me know if you need anything," Gigi's friend, Joanne, said approached the table that Lotus and her immediate family sat at.
"Thank you for coming," Charlene half smiled, as Joanne lightly squeezed her hand along with G'Daddy's.
Teyah softly sigh, slightly rolling her eyes. Once Joanne left the table, she turned her attention onto her family. "This is why I hate when someone in our family dies, people forever offering their fake condolences and so called help." she spat, scooping some macaroni salad on her fork.
"Teyah," Charlene sharply whispered, shooting her a look.
"She's not lying," Lotus agreed with her sister, crossing her legs as she clasped her hands around her knee. "These people have never stopped by to see Gigi when she was sick, now all of a sudden it's 'let me know if you need anything'. Where were they when Gigi did need help?"
"Exactly," Teyah replied, covering her mouth with her hand.
Charlene stared at her with a hardened expression and shook her head, before getting up from the table. "By the time we leave, that attitude better be dropped," she warned her, grabbing G'Daddy's hand as he got up as well.
"What's goin' on?" Lotus asked Teyah as they walked away from the table, sensing the tension between Teyah and her mom.
"She's just annoying," Teyah pushed her plate away from her, and sat back in the chair.
"I mean, what else is new?" Lotus said, "Really, what's wrong Teyah?"
Teyah let go of another sigh, leaning forward as she rested her elbows on the table. "I'm mad at her because we've could've had time with Gigi, but no, she wanted to move across the country. I feel like after we moved, we rarely saw y'all." Teyah vented.
"Forreal," Sheik mumbled, twiddling his thumbs.
"You feel the same way?" Lotus turned towards him, he nodded his head, twisting his lips to the side. "Look, I'm not tryin' to defend her but...she was only doing what was right for y'all."
"Nah, she was doing right by her. Our family is here, our friends were here — daddy was here. We had to start a whole new life when we didn't even want to, we didn't even get a say so in whether we wanted to leave or not. She made that choice for us," Teyah ranted, cutting her eyes over at Charlene who was speaking to a few guests.
"Right, there was room for us to stay at the house. We didn't visit for no holidays, birthdays, none of that. The last time we got to see Gigi is when you got shot...and that was months ago, we didn't get to see her no time before that except for when we visited last time — and the only reason we visited was because they were ready to retire, and hated that you were doing everything for them." Sheik gestured towards Lotus, shaking his head in a disappointing manner.
Lotus remained quiet, listening as her siblings continued to vent about their frustrations with Charlene. She wasn't even aware that they had been feeling that way the whole time, or how long they've felt that way.
However, she was glad that they were now seeing how selfish Charlene had been the whole time, while everyone else thought she'd had been over exaggerating about the situation.
"She tries to act like she's doing sh—" Sheik paused, catching himself. "Stuff, that's beneficial for everybody but in reality she's only looking out for herself — you know whenever we got into arguments wit' her and tell her we wished we could stay wit' dad, she'd tell us that we should be grateful we didn't stay wit' him? Because since he was always on the road, he didn't technically have a house or live in an apartment."
