"Have you ever talked to that guy your sister dated?"

I looked up at Athena and she seemed to be stalking my sister's boyfriend on her phone. She proceeded to show me a photo of him online and pointed a finger towards the picture.

"Alex?"

She nodded before looking back into Alex's online profile.

"Yeah. He seems nice. I never got to talk to him whenever we meet. Do you know why he avoids me?" she asked.

They've crossed paths at least twice now. The first was during Halloween when we were in our senior year. It was also the time Cassidy formally introduced Alex to us and thankfully, we were good. Unfortunately, Athena had dressed up as a zombie bride and scared the shit out of the poor guy that he hid in Cassidy's room and stayed there until Athena left. It wasn't a good first impression.

The second time they've met, Athena tried to make amends and befriend him yet he kept avoiding her as he clings close to Cassidy.

"He's just really shy. He doesn't really talk to anyone unless people go up to him." I said.

Athena nodded.

"That's kinda cute. Why aren't you quiet that?"

Excuse me?

"Are you saying you prefer to rule out our ridiculous arguments and have me shut up and say yes to everything?" I asked.

Athena gave me a playful look and shrugged.

"As much as I like you agreeing to everything I say, I have to admit, I like our banter. Remember the time I said Maxie loves me more than you?"

I stopped doing whatever I was doing on my laptop and looked at her dead in the eye.

"Don't get me started. Maxie does love me but I refuse to acknowledge how much she exactly does."

"So we'll let her chase us as we go in different directions when we go back home during breaks?"

I smiled at her.

"You're on."

Alex

I think I have grown a lot these past couple of years. My middle school self would never have expected his future self to get into a good school with financial aid, a decent paying job at the local bookstore, and a girlfriend.

Wow.

I might've been planning my entire life to go to the good school good job route but I never expected to have a girlfriend along the way.

So now, it's summer.

The summer before college and all hell breaks loose.

As a graduation gift, my family from my mom's side in South Korea all chipped in to get me, my mom, and sisters a trip there. All-expense paid.
