"You may go," Ms.Flynn announces, beginning yet another English class that I had zoned out the instructions to. Brilliant.
"It's a free read class. We're all being sent to the library so that Ms.Flynn has time to grade our book responses," Edward whispers, packing his backpack as he answers my unasked question.
"Oh, uh thank you," I thank, following his motions and packing my own, it being swept away from me and onto his shoulder as though it's the lightest thing on earth. "You don't have to take my bag, I've think I can handle it."
"What type of gentleman would I be if I didn't carry the good lady's bag?" He questions, an old time accent on his words.
"A normal one? It's 2005, not 1905," I remind, him chuckling almost nostalgically at my comment.
"Well, maybe I want to be better than the men of today?" He supplies, making me laugh this time.
"Eddie, you are the most amazing man I've ever met-"
"But?"
"But you're just like all other men of today. You think with your dick," I state, him pausing us just outside the library door, grabbing my shoulder.
"Rem-"
"I know, I know," I cut him off, looking up at him. "I know that's not what that night was to you, I just... It hurts, you know?"
"I have an idea," Is what he returns, moving a piece of my hair back behind my ear. "You know, you can tell me anything, you know that right?"
I should tell him. Tell him he's going to be a father. Now's the time.
"Actually..." I begin, looking into his golden eyes. "Actually, nevermind, we should get into the library."
"Remmie," He whispers. "If there's something I should know, please just be honest with me."
"I can't do this right now, we're in class," I deny, trying to walk into my favorite room on campus.
"Then come over tonight," He invites, grabbing my hand, the cool temperature of his mingling with the warmth of my own. "We can talk and you and your siblings can have dinner with my family, just like the old days."
I want to say yes. I want to go to the place I feel the most comfortable and be around my second family and just be for a moment. I want to tell him I'm pregnant with his child. But I can't.
"Ed, I have work tonight and Jax has practice," I explain, him finally moving out of the way of the door, letting me open it and walk in, his hand still holding mine tightly.
"There you are!" Ang exclaims, coming over to the two of us and taking my hand from Edward, sensing the tension. "I was hoping to ask your opinion on some things."
Nodding as though I know what she's talking about, I turn to Ed, giving him a sad smile. "I'll see you around, Cullen."
"I look forward to it, Rhodes," He says with a small smile, walking away to meet up with Emmett and Jasper where they sit.
"Thank you," I thank Ang, letting her lead me away. "Did you actually need my opinion on something or...?"
She starts to smile now, practically giddy all of a sudden as we sit down, her spinning her laptop to face me.
"Yes! So, I've been looking into baby clothes-"
"Shhh!" I shush, looking around to see if anyone overheard. "Ang, I love you, but I'm so far from -"
"I know, I know," She acknowledges, suddenly blushy. "But this is my first chance to be an aunt, and possibly my only knowing Joshua and Isaac," She explains, making me laugh at the mention of the twins, the ten year old terrors that they are. "So let me spoil the baby."
"Fine," I give in, leaning my head against her shoulder. "Show me the baby clothes."
