"How's it going avoiding The Boy?"

"Jesus Angela!" I exclaim, slamming my locker door in shock as her voice floats from the other side of it. "A little less stealth please! And we are not using code names. This isn't a big deal and we're ignoring it."

"If you say so," She shrugs, me grabbing my lunch from my locker before we head that way. "But seriously, how's it going?"

"Horribly," I groan, her rolling her eyes. "I never realized how much time I spend with him until I started my day purposefully not spending time with him. That obviously hasn't worked, and Ms. Flynn didn't help assigning us to be partners for like, four weeks. "

"Well, he's one of your best friends, what did you expect? It's not like your avoiding James Carter."

"Who's James Carter?"

"Exactly," She comments, not answering my question. "Anyways, are we going to lunch today?"

I pause in my walking, turning to look at her with the most confused expression. "Uh, why wouldn't we?"

"Oh, so we aren't avoiding him on that kind of level, okay, I see," She responds, me shaking my head as we enter the cafe.

"I'm not avoiding him anymore, just ignoring the issue."

"Issue? You had sex with him, Remmington."

"Ooo Rems had sex with who?"

"Jesus Jessica!" I exclaim, her sudden appearance making me jump. "What kind of ninja-spy type classes have you two been taking?"

"What?" Jess asks, confusion all over her face as we sit down.

"I snuck up on her at her locker," Ang explains, setting her bag down before getting back up again, going to get her lunch.

"Ah, so Rems, who was lucky enough to spend a night in the sheets with the most amazing Remmington Marie?"

"Who did what now?" Mike questions, a protective edge to his voice. I roll my eyes, used to this behavior since he started acting like this when my dad left three years ago.

"Ooh anything juicy for the newspaper?" Eric asks next, plopping down next to me and throwing his arm over my shoulder.

"NO!" The girls and I yell in sync, Ang having returned as he jumps back, the eyes of the room turning on us.

"Uh, no no definitely not newspaper news," I assure, heart racing.

"Little miss Remington here had sex last night and won't tell me any of the details," Jess states, the boys immediately drawing back.

"Yeah, please don't tell us anything. I want nothin' to do with that," Mike requests, waving his hands at me.

"I'm sure it was just any ol' guy from the basketball team," Bella comments, walking by with a tray on her way to the Cullens. Trailing after her with my eyes, I glare, whipping my head around.

"Why is she such a bitch to me? I have literally been nothing but nice since she started."

"Well- ow!" Ang exclaims, responding to my elbow in her side.

"You're her only real competition, Rem. Everyone was sure you and Cullen were in love before she showed up."

"Michael, no one thought that," I deny, Eric laughing loudly. "What?"

"Here, check it," He states, pulling out his laptop and spinning it towards me, the end of year newspapers for the last three years being up.

"What am I looking at?"

"Most likely to come back as a couple," Angela read, reading over my shoulder. "Edward Cullen and Remmington Rhodes. Hmmm."

"Darn, I always wrote in myself and Ed's sister Alice," I grumble jokingly, my friends laughing.

"I knew it! I knew that was you," Eric exclaims, everything about this having taken a more jolly tone, no longer on topics I couldn't right well talk about. But this is just what I needed. No stress on the brain, but laughs and smiles with my friends.
