It didn't take long before the boys had begun making their way to Rhode island and it had been extremely quiet before Dean decided it was a good idea to break the ice.
"Do either of you know what we're supposed to do by the time we get to Rhode Island?" Dean questioned. While he wanted to talk to his brother about the whole vessel thing he kind of already knew that Castiel wouldn't want to hear any more of it.
"First off we need a plan," Castiel answered. "The demon inside the house is very powerful and we know that he has some help from his demon siblings,"
"His name is B," Dean pointed out. Sam and Castiel both looked at him and asked how he knew that and why he said that name. Dean paled trying to come up with a good excuse in his head but couldn't and said nothing.
"Dean, you have to tell me how you found out," Castiel told his brother.
"Michael told him," Sam realized. "That's why you were talking in your sleep, he visited you in your dreams,"
"Dean, why didn't you tell me about this?" Castiel asked. It seemed that ever since Sam had entered the picture Dean had started keeping things from him, usually, Dean told him everything. But that didn't seem to be the case all because of a certain angel who didn't have his powers. Castiel gripped the steering wheel to avoid lashing out at Sam.
"I'm sorry I didn't know what to do," Dean admitted. "But can't we deal with that later, we need a plan," He continued. Dean was hoping that they could have this conversation because he could feel the tension building up inside his brother.
"Just this once I will let it go, but no more lying about your dreams, got it?" Castiel scolded and Dean nodded. He felt like a child being lectured about getting in trouble at school. "Good now feathers you know these creatures better than I do, what's the best way to kill them?" He asked.
"The only weapon besides that gun you have is a demon blade," Sam explained. "Like my angel blade, one strike and the demon is a goner,"
"Alright, then what are we waiting for?" Castiel asked. "We have demons to bust, next stop Conjuring house," he continued. No more interruptions, they had to stop B from killing anyone else. At the same time, B was enjoying the feeling of having Sam's grace trapped in a vial around his neck.
"Such power and the angel wasted it on playing dress-up," B said, messing with the chain. Now that he had Sam's angel grace, he knew that Sam would be making his way over to the conjuring house to get his precious grace. "Now then, this is our chance, with Sam being powerless, Dean is vulnerable, Meg, Raymond go and capture the kid, bring him back here," Meg and Raymond nodded and flew off in black smoke heading towards the impala. As the group was getting closer to the house suddenly the lights in the car began to flicker like something was messing with the car. Castiel pulled over thinking that there was something wrong with the lights but before either of them could react black smoke appeared and flew at a fast rate toward the car.
"What the hell is going on?!" Castiel yelled as he pulled out his gun only for the smoke to fly into the car and surrounded it. Dean didn't know what had been going on but suddenly the smoke engulfed him and he had been taken out of the car. Sam and Castiel looked at the back seat and saw that Dean had disappeared. "Dean?!"
"The demons! They took him!" Sam exclaimed as the two got out of the car. "We have to go and save him!"
"This is all your fault," Castiel whispered under his breath.
"What?" Sam asked not hearing what Castiel had said to him. "There is no time for this Cass we have to go,"
"This is all your fault!" Castiel screamed, pushing Sam against the car. He was furious, his brother had just been taken by demons, B was most likely going to try and possess him, and worst of all Sam could literally do nothing. "This wouldn't have happened if it weren't for you!"
"How is this my fault?!" Sam exclaimed. "I was sent to earth to protect him!"
"Exactly and you haven't been doing that!" Castiel yelled back. "I've been the one looking out for him since his parents died, where were you when that happened?"
"I was always with him, I couldn't do anything because I wasn't ready," Sam said. "Michael only sent me down when we knew he was ready to know who he is," he continued. "I have been protecting him since he was a baby. It wasn't time for him to find out about me,"
"Oh just shut up, if you had shown up sooner he wouldn't have gotten taken, some guardian you turned out to be," Castiel declared. "I don't want you ever to come near my brother again, you've only gotten him in trouble, I don't care what your brother thinks I'm saving Dean on my own,"
"You know I can't do that," Sam said as he got up from the car. "You can't keep me from saving Dean,"
"I can certainly try," Castiel replied and that's when Sam punched him. Completely not expecting it, Castiel backed away not in fear but in anger. "That hurt,"
"I will do a lot worse if you try to keep me from my charge again," Sam told him. "Listen to me mortal, I may not have my powers and you clearly don't like me, but I don't care," he continued. "I have been watching Dean all his life and don't blame me for anything that's happened to him because I've seen more than you have," he kept going. "He rebels because he feels like he doesn't fit into your family, and he has no friends, so don't tell me to stay away from him," Castiel remained silent after hearing that. For a Guardian angel with no powers he definitely hadn't lost his protective nature. "Now enough bickering we need to go," Castiel didn't argue as he didn't want to risk angering Sam again. He was more overprotective of Dean than a mother bear was to her cubs.
"We need to get there quicker, driving there will take too long," Castiel finally said after a long time of silence.
"Shut up and drive mortal," Sam responded.
