My eyes shot open to the sound of my horrendously loud alarm clock. I slowly sat up and shut it off. It read 7:00AM. I stood up and made my way over to the bathroom. All I could think about is how the first day of school would be.
It will be my last year at Citadel Highschool. Finally, I will be free to do what I want. I could actually move out of this place and do something better with my life. I have lived in Inuvik, Canada my whole life. All seventeen years, seventeen years of cold weather, snow, and maple syrup. I brushed my teeth, brushed my hair, and just stared into the mirror.
I stared at my black hair that went just past my shoulders. My sapphire eyes, and my white skin. It wasn't exactly pale but it was definitely white. I stepped out of the bathroom and started to dress.
I put on a purple tank top, black skinny jeans, and of course, a blue pair of Jordans. They were indeed a fresh pair. After I had finished lacing up my fresh kicks, I put on a blue hoodie to match. Stepping down the stairs I read the clock: 7:29AM. School started at 7:50 so I didn't have to worry, at least for now. It was only a short walk anyway. I grabbed some toast and sat down at the table just in time to see my dad leave the house. He worked all the time.
I hardly ever saw him. My mother, Kaori, stays at home. She is a nice lady, and I've been happy with her as a mother so far. The only thing I don't understand is why she chose that man to be her husband and father to me. I finished my toast, grabbed my bag, and said bye to my mom before walking out. I heard a faint 'bye' before I shut the door and locked it. I was on my way to school.
Like I said earlier, the walk to school was short. Five minutes later, I arrived at school and checked the time on my phone. 7:45 AM. I had made it just in time. I had to get to my first class, English, in room C032. I've been on this campus for a whole 4 years, so even though I hadn't been here in a while it was easy to find my class. I stepped in and found a seat by the window in the back.
I always chose window seats. Just so I can see what goes on in the outside world, away from here. The cars driving past, the clouds slowly drifting by, the everyday motions of the world. As I was looking I was interrupted by the bell ringing, signaling the start of class, and the start of a new year. Everybody took their seats and the teacher wrote her name on the board.
Ms. Fleure, it said.
It sounded French. I shouldn't be surprised, after all there are many French people in Canada.
"Hello class, I'm Ms Fleure, and I will be your English teacher this year. We will take the next few days to introduce ourselves. Today, you will stand and state your first and last name. Begin!"
As she finished I saw her point to the person behind me beside the window. She sat in the corner. I turned around to see this beautiful girl standing. She had blond hair put up in a pony tail and shining green eyes. Her lightly tanned skin looked perfect against her blue T-shirt and an orange vest. She also wore blue jeans and some orange Nike brand high-tops. It was a strange look, but it somehow it fit her perfectly.
"My name is Serena Aono!"
Her name was Serena, and she had a voice of pure gold. I bet she could probably sing. I wanted to hear her speak some more. I wanted to speak my name. She sat down, and as I turned around I saw the teacher pointing at me. I stood up and began to speak.
