After the battle of Hogwarts Neville dated Luna Lovegood for a point in time but they just simply weren't compatible.
Luna wanted to go out and explore the world, she wanted to see new magical creatures that she'd never seen before, try new things. Neville on the other hand was happy staying where he was, he's never needed all those things, he was happy becoming a Herbology professor at Hogwarts.
We'd always been best friends, ever since our first day at Hogwarts, we'd come to the school the same year, though I'm technically older than him.
We started dating 2 years after their breakup, he'd wanted to rush into the relationship but I wouldn't let him.
I'd told him I'd wait for him, I didn't want him to still be in love with her while he was with me, that wasn't fair to either of us.
I did wait for him too, I would've waited as long as I needed to, even if it meant having to wait another year or two.
Neville had just got the job at Hogwarts, and he was ecstatic!
He all but ran down to my place.
Madam Rosmerta had just recently sold The Three Broomsticks a few years before and I was it's proud new owner, now staying in one of the numerous rooms above the pub. Neville lives with me during the summer but during the school year he stays in his Hogwarts rooms.
He couldn't contain himself, he was so excited and I couldn't blame him, he's always wanted this, he loves magical plants. THIS WAS HIS DREAM JOB!
"Y/N! Professor McGonagall gave me the job!" He hollered through the pub door, he hadn't even gotten the chance to open it yet.
I hadn't been downstairs in the pub at the time, it was just my bartender, a waitress, and a cook.
I was upstairs getting ready for the dinner rush we usually got, as everyone seemed to LOVE our new menu and the school year was starting tomorrow!
We were gonna be busy the entire school year, we always were, students love coming here to drink butter beer and hang out with their friends.
Once he realized I wasn't downstairs he ran upstairs to find me. Not that I was hard to find, I always stay in the same room, everything I own is in that one room.
Now, Minerva had told me weeks ago she was gonna offer Neville this job, she'd started telling me who the teachers would be the year I bought the Inn.
