Saint & Serenes birthday.

"Happy birthday to you!" Everyone finished singing happy birthday.
Sage grabbed the knife and began to cut the cakes for everyone.
"Lemme do it." Mekai came out of nowhere and took over. She smacked her lips and walked over to fix the gift bags.
"Mommy I wanna go to the beach!" Saint whined.
"We're going to the beach later buddy, but first we gotta open y'all's presents." She nodded and he smiled, before running off inside the large venue they rented out.

"Here stinka pooh, happy birthday! I love you." She smiled and kissed Serenes cheek before handing her a slice of cake.
"I love you too mommy!" She smiled and ran off to her friends. They were in Key West and a few of the kids friends were allowed to come on the trip, with their parents of course.
She glanced up at Mekai, who was smiling in the party planners face. She sighed and finished cutting the cakes, before sitting all the gifts out separately.

After opening the hundreds of presents, they could finally go to the beach.
"Mommy where's daddy?" Saint asked as she placed their many gifts into the trunk of her rental.
"He's over there." She pointed at his Hellcat in the parking lot. She watched as he ran over to his dad, who was still laughing with the party planner.

Mekai honestly was trying to make Sage jealous and it was working. He wanted her to realize she still wanted him, and boom their relationship would work.

Sage POV

I sat in the bedroom of the airbnb as Saint, Serene, Sachi, Kaylani and MJ ran around. Them kids something else.
"Y'all did good as hell with the party Sage." Ash smiled, bringing us both a glass of wine. I sighed and took a sip, feeling like I was having a midlife crisis.
"Mekai didn't do anything but buy a few gifts and show up." I rolled my eyes.
"You probably don't wanna hear it but I truly think y'all need a heart to heart conversation. You need closure about things and won't be able to get it if y'all are just pretending everything is ok." She explained.

"Fine, but if he's being ignorant I'm going home, period." I replied and she nodded.
"Well he's downstairs waiting in your rental. Have fun." She smiled and kissed my cheek. I rolled my eyes and got up, before walking out to the car.
I knocked in the window and he unlocked the doors before I got in.
"Hi." I quickly said.
"She told you to get closure too?" He chuckled and I nodded.
It was silent for a minute, and I awkwardly played with my fingers.

"I'm sorry." We both blurted out.
"I-"
"No no let me go first." I cut him off and he nodded.
"I know it's hard knowing where we stand when I don't communicate with you and I admit that's something I need to work on, but it's hard talking to you because everything turns into sex or an argument. That's toxic and nothings ever gonna get fixed. I'm not trying to blame you for everything because I know I have my faults and I make mistakes. I genuinely love you but I don't think we're meant for each other. The therapist was right, we're highschool sweethearts trying to hold onto what we had and it's not gonna work." I explained.

"You be confusing me sometimes Sage, like actually. A few weeks ago you told me that we were together and we was doing everything we used to do, but now we don't belong together?" He raised his eyebrow.
"Because Mekai your actions change my mind. I don't wanna be with someone who can't control his anger. You took your anger from Armon out on me and that wasn't right." I slightly raised my voice.

"Sage you gotta understand, I can't read your mind.
Youn tell me this stuff and how you be feeling, you just curse me out and that's it. Now I get that I need to control my anger and also communicate with you but there's no point if it's like talking to a brick wall. You built up this story about me that I'm such a bitch who doesn't like talking to you and doesn't mean anything he said. Yeah I know I cheated 6 times but I was a dumb ass teenager. You need to understand that I wanna be with you for the rest of my life, fuck everything that's happened before this." He ranted and I nodded.

"I'm genuinely sorry Sage." He added.
"I'm genuinely sorry Mekai." I twisted my lips.
"So." I sighed.
"She told us to have this conversation and we did.. but we can't just jump into a relationship now. So I'll only talk to you when it involves the kids and there's gonna be no sex." I stated and he nodded.
"Ima miss being in them guts though." He chuckled and I rolled my eyes.
"I can't stand you." I shook my head.

I got out of the shower and wrapped the towel around me, before peeking into the bedroom and seeing the kids knocked out on the bed. I put on some black spandex and a white tank top before laying down.
I checked my phone like usual, and boom here comes Mekai.
