chapter 21

Astralea's POV

I got hired to retreat some papers from some French guy. This is basically as much information as they gave me. I needed the distraction so I didn't care about the lack of details especially after what happened between Enzo and I.

God that was stupid.

What was I thinking. What was he thinking.

Yeah, fuck that, that's on him. He started it, I just never stopped it.

That French guy was in his office. I didn't want to grab too much attention so I sneaked around the house. I know how to be invisible if needed.

Then the classic scenario, I break in, they realize who I am, I ask for the paper, they try to buy me and fail, I kill them and grab the papers and leave, except this time I didn't leave.

I felt someone to my right and immediately pointed a gun at him.

"Hi Luna. I've been looking for you." I man in the corner said.

I can't really see his face, but I never heard that voice before. So deep, and such a strange accent.

"Who are you?"

"That doesn't matter. I have a message for you."

"Which is?"

"They are coming for you, and at the right time, right moment, they will take you. It might be today, might be in a year, but when they do come, if I was you I wouldn't fight. You won't win anyways."

"Who are 'they'?"

Silence.

"Is this about the bomb? What, they want me to get it for them, well get in the fucking line. Everyone is trying to get a contract with me."

"They don't care about your contracts. They want you, and they will get you. And when they do, you will be gone. Good luck Luna."

And he stepped into the shadow and literally disappeared. I ran towards where he was standing just to see a possible secret passageway, but that's not what got my attention. No.

Fear, fear ran through my veins. I've fought many people, encountered many. People are scared of me and I'm scared of no one, until now.

I thought its just a rumor, but the card on the floor states otherwise. A red card with a black skull on it and golden snakes around it. I've seen that imagine before.

A few years ago I went to retrieve documents in Mexico, I was supposed to break into a house and the usual. But when I got there, security was dead. Inside the house, so was everyone else. I went to the conference room and saw six men, heads of the one of the biggest cartels, dead around the table. And that card, the exact same one in the middle.

I tried to do some research but I couldn't find anything besides their possible name. Vipers.

They killed the whole cartel, and now, now they are after me.

Why.

He didn't say my actual name though, so there is hope that they don't know my identity. Maybe it's time for me to kill off Luna.
