Mira's POV

It's been a week since Astra left. Part of me wishes she didn't, but I understand why, she needs the closure.

I was never close to our brothers, too many differences. Astra understood us, she knows I don't want this life, she probably knew it even before I did.

She was taught how to fight and shoot since she was 11. I think our father wanted her to be a kid while she was in elementary school, but in fourth grade he started giving her self defense classes, when she went to middle school she started fighting.

She was gifted, it was obvious from the beginning, to everyone but her teacher. He was told to teach her basics, to be able to fight but not like she does right now. The goal was for her to train and be a good fighter by the age of 18, but not like a professional assassin.

Thats what they did to me. I was taught self defense when I was 12, when I turned 13 they started teaching me martial arts. I was good at it, but unlike Astra I didn't show a lot of interest or excitement. I took it like a math class, necessary but not wanted. When I was 15 they taught me how to shoot. By the time I was 18 I was very good at both and I wasn't planning on expanding my skills.

Truth to be told, I am the youngest child and a woman. I'm not an heir, I'm the least important. So if everything is stable, no wars, no one would even pay attention to me. I would be able to be a surgeon how I want to, have a nice and a happy life. Hopefully.

Thats all I want. Some find it boring, but not me. Which is another reason why I'm with Tia, she is like that too. It wasn't her choice to be an assassin, she glad she became one,but she doesn't want to spend the rest of her life killing people.

One day, when this will be over and people will forget about me, she will try to leave to, and maybe father will let her. Or Adron will. Maybe we will get what we want.

Astra is complete opposite though. She was excited to train, she would train every day. Teacher was giving lessons 3 times a week, but she would spend her free time training too. Nex saw that. He was 13 back then.

Boys training was more serious than ours. What they taught us at 15, they taught them at 12.

Nex thought that it's stupid, so he decided to help. He took her to the shooting range, father was furious. A thirteen year old was teaching an eleven year old how to shoot a gun. When she first tried, she missed, but she didn't get upset, she kept going. On her last round she perfectly hit the target.

Once a week Nex would sneak her into the shooting range. By the time she was 13, which is when they introduce us to guns, she knew how to use most of them.

Nex would also teach her what he learned in his lessons. He was her teacher. And he didn't go easy on her like her actual teacher, no, she had bruises all over her body all the time, but she never complained. When Nex graduated school and had to go to college, she was heartbroken, but they would meet up at the ring once a week to train. No one knew about it.

Nex's University was 4 hours away, so once a week both of them would drive 2 hours just to meet with each other and train for like 2 hours.

When Astra graduated school she was a pro.  Could take onto 4 strong guys at the same time and shoot from a VERY long distance. But no one knew but him.
