Celeste Vita

3 days and I won’t remember Dray.

I won’t remember the day I first met him, how my heartbeat quickened the moment my eyes caught sight of him.
I won’t remember the first time I met his dragon form. I’ll forget our first date, and… well everything.

I won’t remember anything, not the way he smiles, or the way he says ‘oh humans and dragons’ while shaking his head, I won’t even remember his name.

“Celeste, what’s wrong?” my dad asked as he walked into my room.

Fuck, I didn’t even realize the door was open.

I shook my head, whispering “nothing,” as I continued to think about everything I would forget.

My dad sat down next to me, gently pulling me into his arms, before making me look at him by placing his finger under my chin and forcing me to look up.

My vision was blurry and only now did I realize I was tearing up.

The moment a tear dropped to my cheek; he raised his thumb removing it.

“Would you like to talk about it?” he questioned, softly.

I shook my head, chuckling as I wiped away at the new tears forming in my eyes.

“It’s nothing, I’m just… dad, can I ask you something?” I asked after taking a deep breath, rubbing my eyes, hoping it would stop the tears.

He nodded.

“Do you think I’m a bad person?”

“What? Who said that? My daughter is the most amazing person in this world and anyone who says otherwise needs to be sent to a mental institute because they must crazy.”

“Dad, what happened to the boy who saved my life?”

“What? Who are you talking about? That bob guy again?” he inquired, looking confused.

“No, wasn’t there someone else that day? The day of the accident. He was next to me-,”

“How did- Wait, are you having dreams of the accident again? I thought they stopped, do you think you need to go to therapy again? wait I’ll go talk to your mother and-,”

“Dad stop, I don’t need therapy, I need answers, please.”

“Let me go call your mother first,”

“Dad please,”

“I’ll tell you with her here, Celeste. She won’t be happy with me doing it alone.”

He left and came back with mom.

“What’s going on?” mom questioned, the smile on her face disappeared as she saw my tears on mine.

“I think it’s time we tell Celeste what happened,” dad stated.

“Dominic, no.” she whispered, hesitantly.

“She’s old enough, and she’s asking about it.”

“Celeste darling, you know we love you, are you sure you want to know?”

“Yes.”

---------

“Once the blood transfusion was done, they took Noah to another room. I talked to the doctors letting them know I’d pay for his medical bills and for his fathers, I even paid for his mother’s funeral.  The next day doctor Jordon told us they found out Noah was being abused at home, they said they’d informed the police and that Noah’s dad would be going on trial once he was done at the hospital, that’s when they called Noah’s only living relatives which were his grandparents from his mother’s side. Noah’s dad passed away a week after the accident due to a heart attack. And his grandparents showed up and stated they’d be his guardians. They also told us they’d pay the bills for his medical treatments and to this day they still are.”

‘They’re gone? Both of them. Oh my god.’ A voice said in the back of my head, and relief filled my body.

Draco Rex

Malia and Michael were looking at me with concern as I paced back and forth in the living room of my house.

They had come over to figure out how we’d be getting the materials for the spell.

Thinking back to when Mal brought up the whole soul-searching mission, I cannot believe how ready I was for it. What’s the worst that could happen? I had wondered. She stays the same and still feels empty at times, Was the answer I had come up with at the time. Now, knowing the worst is the fact that she won’t be able to remember me, much less see me, I can’t help but think I should’ve left it all alone.

When my mother had said my human would need me, never in my wildest imagination could I have thought this was how he would have needed me. It would have been fine, had I not fallen in love with my current human. It would have been fine, had I not known how amazing my Tessie was. Heck, it would have been awesome knowing my human was a guy, had I not been completely head over heels for my girl.

But I know there’s no way to change the past, not that I would have. No matter how hard it is for me to think about how much I love Tessie and will miss her, I also can’t help but think about the boy who was willing to give up his own freedom to help my Tessie.

Tessie’s not wrong when she says we have to get this done as fast as we can, he’s been gone 9 years too long. In all honesty, the guy already has my respect, even though I have not officially met him yet. It would be an honor to have such a guy as my human.

But Tessie is your human, a little voice spoke inside my head.

She is, and she will always be. I don’t need a bond to tell me that, she may not be my human in that sense, but she is my human.

“Draco, are you okay?” Michael asked, grabbing my shoulders to stop me from pacing.

I nodded, “yeah, just thinking about how mom said my human needed me, I guess she was right. Although I doubt even, she knew to what extent.”

“I’m sorry, this is all my fault, I shouldn’t have-”

“No, Mal, it’s good you did. Who knows how much longer his body could have survived here?”

Mal looked down as she nodded, “yeah, but I know how much you love Celeste, you’re always talking about her, even when you wake up the first thing you talk about is whether you’ll see her that day or not.”

“I’m not too worried about that, I have a plan.”

“What plan?” Michael questioned, looking excited.

I smiled, “Simple, once the guy wakes up, I’ll bring him up to speed about all that’s happened and then I’ll tell him I accept him and he’ll accept me, and then humans will be able to see me, and I’ll directly go and become friends with Tessie again. And then I’ll do all the things we did before and Tada, we’ll be back together in no time.”

Michael clapped as Mal shook her head.

“I don’t think tha-”

“Mal, love, don’t be negative right now,” Michael mumbled, as he pulled her closer to him.

“But,” Mal spoke out but quieted down as Michael kissed her.

Rolling my eyes and ignoring their, whatever that was, I started planning how I’ll get her to lov- like me again.

I already love her, so there is no way I’m just going to forget about her and move on… I would have if we broke up or something cause when you love someone you need to let them go and all that… eh, not really. I’d probably try until my last breath to get my Tessie back.

Damn, I love that girl… so much.

There is still a chance she might not be able to see ghosts anymore, but if that happens, Bartholomew says he’ll just make himself visible to her at all times. So, there are no worries there.

Back to my plan, it seems simple enough but last time it was her who approached me and- my thoughts cut off as my phone started ringing.

“Hello?” I answered the unknown called.

“Draco, son. Could you come over, Celeste is not feeling well and-,”

“I’ll be right there, Mr. Vita,” I replied in a hurry and he thanked me before hanging up.

---------------------------

“She’s in her room, I think she’s a bit upset. Usually I’d call Wesley, but my wife said you’d be more likely to aid her right now.”

“I’ll try my best, Mr. Vita.”

“Stop it with that, son. Just call me Dominic.”

I nodded, “did she eat anything?”

“Oh shit, I didn’t even think about that, no she didn’t. We had a chat about something and she hasn’t said a word after that.”

“Well, I’ll take some food upstairs for her.”

“Yes, of course, I’ll plate some up for both of you.”

-------------

Once I was sure the tray was secure in my hands I headed upstairs towards her room.

The door was a little open. I tried my best to knock with my elbow, before announcing I was coming in when I heard no reply.

Maybe she’s in the balcony, I wondered as I sat down the tray.

“Tessie,” I spoke poking my head into the balcony, huh? Not here either.

“Dray?” I heard Tessie’s voice from behind me. “What are you doing here?... Not that I mind or anything.”

I turned around and the moment Tessie was in my sight, my eyes widened, heartbeat fastened and I held my breath.

Her hair was wet, and she was in a towel.

I licked my lips as I gulped, shaking my head I turned away, bad Rex.

“Um, I came to check up on you?” I said, in an unsure tone.

“Check up on me? Why? I’m okay,” she giggled.

I heard her footsteps echo as she opened the closet.

“Just give me a second, I’ll be right out,” she stated and I heard the bathroom door close.

I breathed out a sigh of relief, not the time to be thinking like that Rex, I scolded myself as I shook my head to get rid of the images brewing up in my mind.

The door opened revealing Tessie in her Pac-man pajama men shorts and a black crop top.

She ran over to me with a wide smile and jumped on me, wrapping her arms and legs around me.

“I missed you,” she whispered as I held her tightly against me, confused as fuck but glad to see she was okay.

“I missed you too,” I replied as she unwrapped herself from around me and took a step back, before walking towards the balcony.

I was about to follow her, before I remembered the food.

I grabbed the tray and made my way outside.

“Oooo food, I’m starving,” she clapped as she pulled the tray out of my hands.

She pecked my lips, “thanks Dray.”

She ate in silence, slightly humming here and there.

“Why aren’t you eating?” she asked after clearing her throat.

“Oh,” I spoke looking down at my plate, “I’ll eat now.”

“Go ahead, there’s no meat in there,” she smiled motioning for me to start.

Once our plates were empty, she stood up and held her hand out for me to hold.

“How about some ice cream? We can get it from the grocery store, it’s a 5-minute walk.”

“Okay,” I replied, taking hold of her hand.

--------------

“Tessie, isn’t your house that way?” I questioned, pointing in the other direction.

She nodded, “Yeah, but the park is this way.”

“The park is closed right now.”

“Mhm, and? We can just climb over the fence, I do it all the time,” she shrugged.

‘Oh, humans and dragons’ I thought as I shook my head.

“Tessie isn’t that illegal?... Wait no, that is illegal.”

“Well, Mr. Winston owns the park and he’s a nice old man who I doubt has the time to sue people just cause they wanted to sit on the swings after closing time. I’ve done it more than a hundred times, nothing ever happens, so don’t worry. If someone catches us, they’ll probably just give us a warning and make us leave, so it’s not a big deal.”

“Okay,” I conformed after giving it a thought.

We walked, hand in hand, as she hummed.

“Okay, it’s simple, just put your legs here and here, and then grab onto the top-,” she demonstrated how to climb over the fence until she got to the other side, “And now you just jump off. Got it?”

“Got it.” I nodded, following what she had done.

“Oof,” she whispered when I jumped off the fence and fell onto my face.

I rubbed my jaw, shaking my head, “I’m okay.”

“Hah- uhm, that’s good,” she coughed out, trying not to laugh.

-----------

We’ve been at the park for an hour now, and Tessie seems to be back to normal. Which should be great but it’s a little nerve wrecking, I mean she was freaking out last I saw her and now here she is laughing and joking around like nothing’s wrong.

“Hey, Tessie?”

“Yes, Dray?”

“Is everything okay?” I questioned, worry lacing my voice.

“Mhm, I thought about the whole situation while talking to my parents and well… once I realized I can’t really do anything about it, I stopped letting it affect me.” She replied, smiling at the moon.

“Oh.”

“Yup, and during the talk I felt so relieved it was like all the troubling thoughts and worries disappeared,” she continued, as she swung higher.

I nodded, still confused.

“Anyways, whatever happens, we’ll deal with it tog- I mean I’ll deal with it,” she nodded, letting out a sigh.

“Hey, we’ll deal with it together, I’ll be there for you whether you remember me or not,” I comforted her.

“Thanks Dray, by the way could you tell Malia to forget about the favor I asked for,” she requested.

Favor?

“What favor?”

“Nothing, don’t worry about it, I was being stupid and kind of freaking out when I asked about it, but now that I can think with a clear mind, I realized how dumb it was. Don’t forget to tell her to forget about it, okay?” she replied, giggling slightly.

“Okay.”

Your word is my command.
