Me, Raphael, and the half-demon, wandered down the white cobblestone path.
The angel realm is different than Earth. Everything here is beautiful, white, and serene. The angel realm is a place where one can relax, and enjoy the indescribable beauty everywhere you look. Even Kaileb, who loved to sprout out his sarcastic comments, was speechless.
"You're lucky..." Kaileb mumbled finally as he picked up a stone on the ground. "Everything is freaking perfect. I mean, holy-shit, this rock is even sparkling!"
Kaileb was paler than normal, and sweat glistened on the mid of his forehead. I could tell that he was in immense pain, but regardless, he continued to put up his happy facade.
I grimaced, "You shouldn't swear up here... You can swear on Earth, but, up here... It's, how should I put it, unholy?"
"Oh, right," Kaileb said before pocketing the rock.
"What are you doing?" Raphael asked with a raised eyebrow. "Have you sunken so low that you now steal rocks?"
"Chill. My sister collects rocks. She'll like this one," Kaileb said with a huff. "It's not a crime to take a rock, is it?"
So he wasn't always a selfish demon... He was doing it for his sister.
"I see, then that's fine," Raphael said with a nod before coming to a halt. "Someone is coming."
"Who?" I questioned as I glanced around. I didn't sense anyone coming, but then again, Raphael had years, no, decades, of experience and training.
Sure enough, somebody was indeed coming our way. I was shocked, to find that it was Layla, my angel friend. Her cheerful demeanor was replaced with horror, her entire front of her gown ripped and dirtied with dirt and grime.
"G-G-Gabriel!" Layla sobbed as she threw her arms around me. She shook fiercely, tears welled up in her eyes, before she cried out, "Something is wrong! Demons, they-they... They got, they got--"
"Calm down. I can't understand you. Take a deep breath, and explain once more," I said quietly as I pulled Layla close.
"Demons... I don't know how they got here, but they have. Groups at a time! It's terrible!" Layla yelled all at once, tears streaking her dirtied face. "They're killing! Angels are being killed, Gabriel!"
"Demons are here...?" I repeated before hugging the crying Layla close. "I don't really understand what's happening, but you should go... Go to my brother. He'll be able to protect you."
Layla nodded as she wiped some tears off of her face. "I will... But promise me one thing, be careful." She sniffed once more before she took off flying in the opposite direction from us.
Raphael frowned, and waited until Layla was gone before he spoke. "They are getting through probably because of the portal here, but it doesn't make any sense... It's a one way trip... We can go down to hell, but they can't come up here... Ah, unless one of the Elders opened it up to them, but no, they wouldn't do that."
"Yes, they would. I heard that some Angels have been working undercover for demons," I explained with a sigh.
Kaileb frowned, "So, there are demons here now? Ha, great," he mumbled. If it wasn't already horrible, Kaileb suddenly, and without warning, stumbled forward.
Raphael had quickly caught him before he hit the ground, his eyes narrowed in concentration. "This isn't good. We are getting close to the gates... His body can't handle the angelic powers anymore..."
"Fine," Kaileb groaned as he shoved Raphael's hands away. "I'm fine," he croaked as he wobbled slightly before regaining his balance.
"You are wobbling like a drunkard. You, Kaileb, are not fine," Raphael said sternly, and without another word, scooped Kaileb into his arms and flung him over his shoulders.
"What the hell are you doing?" Kaileb spat before wiggling.
"Stop moving." Raphael ordered before glaring in my direction. "Where did you hear that angels have been working for the demons?"
I bit my lower lip. I couldn't exactly say that I learned the information from Sophia's father. Sophia was supposed to he a human, along with her father knowing nothing about angels... I would have to spill Sophia's secret if I wanted to tell them where I got the information. "Ah... You know. Just somewhere."
"Gabriel, this isn't the time. I need to know where you got the information. This half-demon here is currently dying from the angelic energy here, and your human girl is somewhere in hell. If there are indeed angels working for the demons, then that information could help us rescue Sophia, and get Kaileb out of here in time before his condition worsens."
I frowned. I couldn't deny that Raphael had a point. I rubbed my hands together, "Well... Sophia's father... I heard it from him."
"Sophia's father? Why would he know something like that?" Questioned Kaileb as he continued to struggle.
"Well... It turns out that Sophia is a halfie like you." I said with a forced grin.
"A what?" Kaileb questioned as he raised an eyebrow.
"She's half human... And angel..."
Raphael and Kaileb stared at me, or at least Raphael did. Kaileb was currently hanging upside down by Kaileb.
