Heading to the Prison

We walked for a few hours until we finally hit the gates of Heaven. Kaileb silently grumbled a curse to himself- and I could tell that the angelic energy was affecting him once again. We had to be quick.

"So, how exactly do we get through the gates? Is there, like, a gatekeeper?" Kaileb asked as he peeked curiously around.

Raphael nodded, "Yes, usually. However, it doesn't seem like they are here." He said before he extended his hand out to the silver gate, and gently, pushed it open. A simple nudge flung the gate wide open. "It's unlocked."

"Unlocked? It's never unlocked," I said in disbelief before my eyes widened. The moment the gate opened, was the moment I saw the true horror that laid inside. My home, of white abyss and nothing but pure bliss, was filled with terror and horror.

Demons, of all kinds, ran, slithered, crawled, and flew down the streets. Angels, whether they were young or old, cowered back in fear.

"Layla was right... They got in..." I mumbled in disbelief before I had taken a step backwards.

"Chickening out?" Kaileb questioned.

Raphael shook his head in disbelief, "This isn't right..." He mumbled and extended his hand. A bright flash of white blinded me for a second, before a long shimmering sword was held in his hand, the hilt encrusted in diamonds and gold.

"Whoa! How did you do that?" Kaileb asked as he reached for the sword. When he did, Raphael slapped his hand away.

"Don't touch it. This, is a sword made specifically to destroy demons. One touch, and you'll disintegrate in seconds."

Kaileb paled, and took a few cautious steps back.

"Take this," Raphael said before tossing the sword to me.

I stumbled to catch it, nearly dropping it onto the ground, "W-What? Me?"

"Yes, you," Raphael said quickly before turning to face both me and Kaileb. "If demons are wandering the streets freely, then who knows what we'll see further down. We need to be on the guard. Don't attack unless you need to though. Understand?"

"Yes... But, I don't know how to use a sword." I said with a frown.

"Just swing it. If it just touches a demon, it'll burn them alive." Raphael said before he took off running. "Keep up. We need to get to the portal, now."

"How can we get through the portal it there are this many demons here?" Kaileb hollered as he ran on behind.

"That's the problem. It won't be easy. It was naive of me to believe that we could simply waltz into the prison and into the portal." Raphael said with the shake of his head as he leapt over a fallen demon.

"So, basically... You have no plan?" I hollered.

"The plan stays the same. A couple demons won't stop us from getting into the prison," Raphael said before he came to a sudden halt.

A demon, that looked more like some large horse with sharp teeth, lunged towards Raphael. Raphael, didn't even blink. Instead, he extended his right hand out, and snapped his fingers. A bright light flashed, and the demon wailed in agony before dispersing into a pile of raven-black ash.

My jaw dropped as I watched. "So that's the power of a high-class angel..."

"Damn." Kaileb mumbled as he scratched at the back of his neck, "I'm glad that he's on our side."

"Come on, we don't have any time to waste." Raphael said before he pushed forward.

The more we continued on, the more horror I witnessed. Angels, laid around, dead, while others fought for their lives. Not all angels were trained in combat, only a few. These angels were regular civilians. They had no way of protecting themselves against these bloodthirsty demons.
