What did Kaileb mean by there was no longer a prison? Sure there was a prison. We just came from there!

"The demons have completely taken over the Angel Realm, and that includes the prison," interrupted Raphael as I found him lying out on the ground, his legs crossed over one another. He looked rather relaxed for someone who was in Hell.

"What? That doesn't make sense. It was fine when we left! How could the demons get through so soon?"

"It wasn't soon, Gabe. I was waiting for you guys for hours," Kaileb pointed out. "Time flows differently here."

"Right, I forgot that, but... how did demons get through? I mean, there were a lot of angels guarding the portal when we came here."

"Well, that's the thing. The demons weren't coming out from the portal you guys left from. They were coming out from a new portal."

"A new portal? Are you sure," questioned Raphael before he stood up, his eyes narrowed. "Only high-class demons have the ability to open up portals. It's rare and not many of them can do it. Only a few demons can. But who? Who would open up a portal into Heaven? What would be their objective in doing such a thing?"

Me and Kaileb looked to one another. We both had no clue. What was their objective? Why were demons suddenly attacking angels. For years we remained at peace with one another. I mean, sure, we didn't like each other, but we would never deliberately attack one another without a reason. That was against rules. So, the question was, why were demons doing this and why... why did they take Sophia? What did Sophia have to do with any of this?!?

My head was spinning. None of this was making sense. All we had been doing, this whole time, was uncover more and more useless information. When would the pieces start to come together and make sense?

"Gabriel, remember how you said you spoke to Sophia's father," Raphael questioned.

"Uh, yeah? Why?"

"Is there anything that you might have left out. Perhaps her father told you something important?"

I frowned. "Let me think... well, I told you that Sophia is half angel and half human, right? So.... Oh, wait! I didn't tell you that her mom was kicked out of Heaven!"

"Kicked out of Heaven," Raphael repeated while scratching at the back of his neck. "Did her father tell you why she was kicked out of Heaven?"

"Apparently she was framed. A bunch of angels were working undercover for demons, or something like that. They wanted this gem, so-"

"-Gem," Raphael interrupted, eyes narrowed and his eyebrows creased into a frown. He had a serious look on his face and I wasn't liking it.

"Yeah, a gem. They wanted this gem, and I guess Sophia's' mother took it. She ran off with it to the human world."

"This is bad," Raphael muttered oh so quietly. He shook his head and paced back and forth, grumbling under his breath.

Me and Kaileb looked to each other before I questioned, "Well, what is it? You are making me anxious!"

"This gem, if it is indeed the gem I am thinking of, then it is powerful. Very powerful. The gem controls the balance of life between the demons and angels. It has been a, how should I put it, peace treaty between us. Not only does it represent peace between our species but it also is
an energy source for us Angels. Without it we would have no powers. We wouldn't even be able to fly."

"Whoa, wait! There's really such a thing? Seriously?" Kaileb beamed in excitement.

"Was. The gem, like Gabriel had said, was taken. I was never told by whom took it. But, to think that it was Sophia's mother this whole time," Raphael mumbled.

"What'll happen if the demons get hold of the gem," I questioned.

"Threats. The gem is our power source, not demons. They have their own source of power. If they take the gem into their possession, we would practically be useless. If a demon holds the gem the angelic energy cripples. I guess you can say that the gem would die."

"It's alive?" This was getting way too confusing.

"No, but in a sense, yes."

"So, to put it simply... if demons take the gem, all you angels are basically screwed over?"

"Sadly, yes," Raphael answered Kaileb solemnly.

"Geez, this situation really sucks, but I mean, Sophia's mom has the gem! Isn't that a good thing? Can't we go find her mother and get the gem back ourselves," asked Kaileb.

"Sophia said that her mother is gone. Sophia hadn't seen her mother since she was a child. Where would we even start looking?"

Raphael sighed as he raked his fingers through his white blonde hair. "We would first start looking at Sophia's home, and then make our way out from there. Our objective, first, is to find Sophia. She could help us find her mother."

I nodded. Finally, it was all coming together! The demons must have taken Sophia because they had known, all along, that Sophia was the daughter of the angel that took the gem. They wanted to get information out of Sophia. Little did they know, that Sophia was as clueless as all of us. Maybe even more, since it wasn't up until recently that she discovered that she was part-angel.

"Keep this a secret between us, do you both understand," Raphael questioned as he looked from me, and then to Kaileb. His gaze had stayed on Kaileb for a seconds, before frowning, "Kaileb, do you understand?"

"Yeah, yeah, I understand."

"I do to," I said with a nod.

"Good," Raphael said with a nod.

So the gem is what started all of this, huh? We'll find the gem and end all of this! We have to! It isn't just about Sophia anymore. No.... Now it is about the whole angel race.

[FINALLY, I can say I crawled out of my writers block. I was seriously sooo lost in trying to put this chapter together, but I think, it worked out! What do you think of the gem? Could the gem be why the demons took Sophia??? huehue]
