Chapter 12

Recap- When I walked past her room I saw her just sitting on her bed staring at the wall.
I think I we took it too far today. 

Maisy's POV: 

They're going to find out. 

They won't stop. 

But he'll come for me I know it.

But what if I make them mad by not obeying them. 

they've been nice so far, but Xander is just saying what they're all thinking. 

I don't wanna go back there. 

I don't wanna go back. 

He'll put me in that room again. 

He puts me in there and locks it so that Mom couldn't get me out. 

But Mom is in the garden now. 

I really hope that the police didn't step on her when they were looking at the house. 

I want Mom's necklace back, but I don't think they'd let me go back for a minute to grab Mom's necklace and my notebook. 

But maybe I shouldn't bring my notebook.

They'd probably read it and then know everything that happened. 

Then I would really get a bad punishment when he comes to get me. 

Mom told me to write down what he did everyday. 

She told me Dad wasn't always like this, but he tricked her. 

He hit me harder than he hit her.

He said it was because he wanted a boy, but Mom couldn't have babies anymore. 

He hit her too hard, and it made the baby die. 

Zero's POV: 

I didn't hear Bean screaming last night. 

I wonder if she slept. 

Maybe we took it too far. 

I shouldn't have said that about the blood. 

Nick said she's taking the day off, but when I came down for school she was cleaning. 

When she noticed my presence she turned around from the dishes and stood up straight, but wouldn't look up from the floor. 

"Speak." Xander said sitting at the table. 

"You don't have to Bean." 

"I've found she listens to direct statements if you tell her to do something." 

"Did you have her make you breakfast?" I said getting kinda angry. 

"Yes and she is a wonderful cook." He said smiling. 

"That's low even for you. We're trying to get her to be comfortable around us and that's not going to happen with you ordering her around!" I kind of yelled. 

His smile only grew. 

"Oh I don't think you should have done that. Take a look behind you." 

I turned around and I saw her shaking.

"Hey what's going on here? Kiddo are you ok?" Drew came in and asked.

"I-I didn't mean to. Bean I'm sorry." 

"What happened in here?" Nick then came in and said. 

"He was ordering her around because he found out she'd do anything if it was an order, so he made her make him breakfast." 

"And then Zero yelled at me which in turn scared the little coward over here." 

"Really living up to the stereotype of what Xanders are huh?" Ace said. 

Everyone was in the room now. 

She still hasn't looked up yet. 

"Get Garren here." Nick said. 

Garren's POV: 

"Hey dude what was last night?" I asked when Zero called me. 

"I need you to come over. Like now." 

"What's going on?" 

I heard yelling in the background. 

"It's Bean. She's freaking out. Everyone is freaking out." 

"I'm on my way."
