Elliot's POV:
"Bye Mom I'm gonna go hangout with Maisy!"
"Ok why don't you invite her to lunch here." Mom called out to me as I run out the door.
I bike over to Maisy's house to surprise her for her birthday.
She's turning 9 today.
I hear glass breaking.
I guess they're Maggie and Mark are having another fight.
I was about to knock, but I stood frozen when I saw my best friend covered in blood being hit over and over again and he's screaming at her.
"BARK LIKE THE DOG YOU ARE!" He just kept screaming and hitting her.
She started barking.
He just laughed and hit her more.
When I snapped out of it, I ran in.
I tackled him to the ground.
I may be small but he's too tall for his own good.
He hit his head on the kitchen counter on his way down.
"Come on!" I grabbed Maisy and we were running to my house.
"Come on Maisy we have to go faster."
"I-I can't."
"We have to."
When I look back I see Mark chasing after us.
"Maisy come on! We gotta go!"
He was catching up and Maisy was having a hard time running.
He's gonna get us.
"HELP! HELP! HELP! SOMEONE HELP!" I started screaming.
Please help us.
Please.
He yanked her out of my hand.
We were so close.
"LET HER GO!"
"Please! I'll be good, I'm sorry!"
He didn't say anything just dragging her back to the house.
I ran back to them and started punching him.
He didn't even flinch.
His fist connects with my face and everything is fading out.
"Elliot!!" Was the last thing I heard before everything went black.
When I come to I'm laying in the ER.
My face hurts.
My head hurts.
Where's Maisy.
"Where's Maisy?!?!"
"Elliot what are you talking about?" My Mom asked with teary eyes.
"He's hurting her Mom. We have to go get her."
I explained everything to the cops, I heard on they weren't anywhere to be found.
They just left.
My best friend.
We called each other brother and sister.
And now she's gone.
I didn't get to give her the gift.
