It was a quiet night in the Shogun's Mansion. The guards were now off duty, and those of higher rankings were thought to be asleep.
All except for one.
Being careful to hold the dim candle in their hand, Y/n let their yukata leave a trail behind them as they carefully walked.
It wasn't the first time they had sneaked around, so they easily avoided the squeaky floorboards.
After a few minutes of walking, they slide open one of the many doors, stepping into a dusty room.
They deeply inhaled to try and cancel their sudden urge of sneeze, but could only force the door closed behind them before sneezing.
The dust around them shot into the air since it was disturbed, and Y/n could only attempt to wave it out of their face without ruining their candle.
They quickly ran away from the door, heading into another section of the library.
Little (e/c) eyes glided themselves across the spines of the books, and eventually they stopped on a very specific one.
The Seven Nations of Tevyat; A Look On How The Land Thrives on Culture and Its People.
"Seven nations...?" Y/n mumbled to themself, putting the candle down so they could pull the book off the shelf.
"I don't remember being told about Seven nations."
With a single blow of air, the book had its cover cleared of dust and cobwebs.
They looked around again, before picking up the candle and walking over to one of the many tables in the room.
The candle was placed with a soft click of metal, and Y/n themself had to hop to be able to reach the chair, but they didn't mind.
Being careful as to not make enough noise, they opened the cover of the book, only to be met with big words and confusing sentences.
Some times they forgot they were still a child, not even in their double digits left.
"Hello? Is someone in here?"
The footsteps clicked into the library faster than Y/n could react, and they had just reached to extinguish their table side light before Ren's face popped into view.
Ren stared at the scene for a moment, before a small hum escaped him, "Good morning, Y/n."
"R-Renny-! I-I-" Y/n tried to hop off the chair, but Ren instantly scooped them up.
"What are you up to, you silly little munchkin?" Ren smiled, before taking notice of the book, "Ah, trying to read?"
"T-Trying, and failing," Y/n pouted, "It's harrddddd, but I've never heard of there being more nations! I only knew about Inazuma."
Ren hummed, "Can you keep a secret?"
The tips of Y/n's hair glowed, and they excitedly clapped, with just enough space in-between their hands so it didn't make sound, "Are you gonna read to me???"
"Mhm!" Ren sat down at the desk again, sitting Y/n in his lap. It gave them a bit of a height so they were able to view the book closer.
"You know, I'm actually not from Inazuma," Ren smiled, turning a few pages of the book before landing on a page of what Y/n recognized as the Anemo Archon and symbols.
He pressed his finger into the picture of a large winged statue in a square, "This is my hometown."
"Eh? You live inside the statue?"
