Where I Belong (Star Wars: The Bad Batch)

Truth

The Marauder lands in the town center on Saleucami & you leave the ship & walk to the town center. "Come on guys. Where are you?" You ask. Suddenly a force hits you from behind which sends you to the ground. "A word of advice, next time disable the ship's tracking system to avoid capture." Admiral Rampart says as you soon pass out.
On the other side of the city, "Are you sure you guys will be alright?" Hunter asks. "We will be fine. Just get Y/N & get yourself somewhere safe." Cut replies. "I can't thank you enough, Cut. For everything." Hunter says. "That's what brothers do. We look out for each other." Cut says as he walks away with his family.
Suddenly a comm comes through & projects a hologram of Rampart. "Clone Force 99. I'm very well aware that you are within the city center. I have someone that might be of great interest to you." Rampart says as he shows you, handcuffed with a blaster held to your head. "Should you want your comrade to stay alive. Meet us at the loading docks by your ship. And don't keep me waiting." Rampart finishes. "This is obviously a trap of some type." Tech says. "We don't have any other option... We are going." Hunter orders.

By the Marauder, The Bad Batch walk up & are soon surrounded by troops. "I told you." Tech says. "Your weapons will not be needed. Toss them to the side. Quickly now." Rampart says as The Bad Batch ditch their weapons. "Are you ok, Y/N?" Hunter asks. "Oh please, this stiff couldn't hurt me, even if he wanted to." You reply as Rampart kicks you in the stomach. "Hey!" Hunter says. "I'm getting real sick of you." Rampart says as you cough. "That makes two of us." You say as Hunter looks at you. "Where is your squad commander?" Hunter asks as your head drops. "Oh... You haven't heard?" Rampart replies surprised. "Rampart... Don't." You say. "Your old squad member that you called Crosshair, is dead." Rampart says as the whole team is stunned by this discovery they hadn't known about. "You're lying." Hunter says. "You can ask Y/N. They were there when it happened." Rampart says as you avoid eye contact with the group.
Suddenly you see blaster reflectors & suddenly you smile with a single tear rolling down your face.

Flashback

In the village you lived in, you were walking beside Crosshair as you & him marched through the thick snow that had fallen overnight in the village. "Cross, you don't have to carry around your sniper like that. The only thing that is around us both is nature & the people of this village I live in." You say as Crosshair lowers his sniper & carries it lower to the ground.
Crosshair lifts himself up onto a high rock & looks around with the visor on his helmet. As he looks, suddenly he whistles, & you whistled back knowing nothing about what or why he just did what he did.
Crosshair jumps down & comes towards you. "Could you hear me?" Cross asks. "I could. But remind me, what is the point of this?" You ask. "We need to be able to find each other in case we get separated or need rescuing." Cross replies. "& whistling is the way to do that?" You say. "You can hate it now, but one day this trick will come in handy." Cross replies. "Alright, well what happens if you don't whistle back?" You ask. "I will no matter what. I will always whistle back." Cross finishes.

You wipe the tear away from your face & continue to smile.
"Best to surrender now. Make things easier on yourself." Rampart says as suddenly you whistle & Rampart turns around to face you & ask, "What are you doing?!" Rampart asks as you roll your eyes. "Fuck you Rampart... You forget I've got friends." You say as suddenly you hear a whistle return to you. Crosshair was positioned with his sniper on top of one of the buildings in the town square.
Omega & the team look behind themselves to be filled with sighs of relief. "He's alive... Cross is alive..." Hunter whispers to himself.

Hunter then grabbed his blaster along with the rest of the team, except Omega, & aimed at the troops that were now aiming at them waiting for Ramparts order to fire.
"Open fire..." Rampart orders. Before the blasts could get even close enough to hit the team, Crosshair shot a blast that bounced off the mirrors & made the troops collapse & injure Rampart.
Crosshair looks up from his sniper & shares a slight nod as he begins to make his way over to you & the team.

You get yourself up off the ground & go to stand above Rampart who was on his knees grasping for air.
You kicked him right in the stomach & he fell backwards, landing on his back.
You walked off of the Marauder & approached Omega, getting down to her level.
"Omega... Hunter, Echo, Tech, Wrecker... & Cross, thank you... For coming back." You say as Cross approaches the team & Hunter taps him on the shoulder. He looks over & shares a simple smile with him.
"Well, Y/N. Thank you... For coming back to us." Hunter says as you nod & approach Crosshair.

"You came back... I thought you were dead... We thought..." Cross stops you & replies softly. "I know... I managed to get back up to my feet & come to you for backup. You like the whistle now?" Cross asks. "I always have ever since you started to do it..." You say as Cross smiles & his expression changes quickly when he sees, past you... Rampart, standing with a blaster raised towards your head.
Cross was about to grab his sniper but Rampart stopped him, & made everyone face him. "Don't think you can get rid of me that easily Y/N..." Rampart says as Cross moves his hand closer & closer to his sniper. "Cross... Please, don't..." You say. "I can't let him hurt you Y/N & have him take you away from me... Not again..." Cross says whispering to you. "Cross, you have to let me go eventually. & that time is now..." You say whispering back as you place your hand on one of his shoulders.
"Throw down your weapons... Their is no need for brutal warfare..." Rampart says as everyone drops their weapons tossing them towards Rampart.

Another shuttle appears & lands next to the Marauder & Crosshair's old imperial crew come walking down the shuttle & placing you in handcuffs, blasters raised.
"Put her on your shuttle, & lock her up tight, she managed to escape last time I'm not dealing with that nonsense again." Ramparts orders as the troopers take you to their shuttle & place you a cell that had an electric barrier fall down & lock you in the cage.
"Let her go." Hunter orders. "Not going to happen Sergeant. She's locked tightly away from you now, & she will never be seeing any of you, ever... again..." Rampart says as he raises his blaster & some of the troops that were on their shuttle walked off & raised their blasters following orders from Rampart.

"Don't tell me you left Y/N alone..." Rampart asks the troops. "The others are with her, they'll make sure she stays." One of the troops replied. "Place them in cuffs, send another shuttle in." Rampart says as the troops place them in cuffs, even Omega, & ask for a shuttle. "We will not be going without Y/N!" Crosshair says as he undoes his cuffs quickly, grabbing his rifle, & before he could get to Rampart with his rifle he stopped & sighed. "Cross, come on." Hunter says as he drops his rifle back down & walks back over to the crew.

Moments away from the other shuttle arriving a blaster began firing. "Who is that?" Omega asks sitting on the concrete landing pad. When the person came into view everyone watched... Blue & white clone armor with markings on the suit & the helmet...
