Ava ducked behind a table as her dad passed the shop windows, but he didn't see her and just kept running. She breathed a sigh of relief, stood up, brushed herself down and turned her back on the windows. Ten, on second thoughts, she rushed over and peeked out. He dad was barreling his way down the road and she watched as he turned and sprinted out of view, on a completely wild goose chase. She took another big breath and strode confidently over to the desk, before shrinking back into her shell. The woman at the desk - a stern looking lady wearing a brown trouser suit - peered down at her over the top of her steel-dimmed glasses. Ava began to explain everything.
