maki's point of view
(her dialogue on the right)

NOW PLAYING:
godspeed, frank ocean
i will always love you, like i do.

all her life, maki valeza felt
unfamiliar with the concept
of love.

what it felt like to receive it,
and to love someone so
much that your brain turns
into mush around them and
your stomach fills itself
with rhetorical butterflies.

yet although this all felt like
something she's never feel,
the girl hoped one day, even
if it wasn't in this lifetime,
that the stars would align
for her.

she just wanted to know
what love felt like.

davina harper
"you, and me. under the
stars. what do you say?"

maki never thought of davina
to be someone so cheesy.

"that sounds nice."

they grab her hand, and lead
her to the shore.

since they were near a beach,
there was no way they weren't
going to stop there for a
while.

especially since davina knows
maki likes the sea.

"wait...but we don't have
any blankets??"

davina harper
"right...i guess we're laying
on the sand."

"wait, wait, wait, the
sand—"

davina pulled maki down,
making her lay beside them.

the sound of the waves and
not-so-loud chatter in the
back felt all too familiar for
her.

it reminded her of home.

"i guess...this isn't so bad."

davina harper
"yeah. i knew you'd like it."

"i mention the beach once and
you've come to a conclusion
that it's my favorite thing in the
world."

davina laughs, intertwining
their hand with maki's causing
a faint blush spread through
her cheeks.

davina harper
"naturally so."

"whenever i bring it up,
there's a...how do ya say
it..."

"spark. there's a spark in
your eyes."

although unbeknownst to her
partner, maki was blown away
by their attentiveness.

she, herself didn't even know
of that. it's like davina knew
her more than she knew herself.

"...there is? am i that
obvious?"

davina harper
"there are a lot of instances
where you are, yeah."

"for example, you can't help
but smile when i mention
something that makes you
happy."

"it's like no matter how
much you try to contain that
happiness, i can still notice
you crack."

they look to the stars.

davina harper
"yer very pretty when you
smile, so i remember what
ya like because then, you'll
smile around me more."

maki was utterly overwhelmed
by what she was hearing.

"it's not like my smile is
anything, anyway....so
why?"

she was genuinely curious.
no one has said such things
about her before.

maybe the casual compliments
from her relatives, but none
came close to this.

davina harper
"what do ya mean, why? it's
not everyday i come across
a girl named maki valeza with
a pretty face, more so an even
prettier smile everyday."

"no way. even prettier than
the stars?"

davina harper
"i mean..."

maki laughed, taking in the
euphoric sensation.

happiness.

she liked this feeling,
a lot.

"okay, i get it—"

davina harper
"prettier than the stars,
maki."

"i must be so lucky, then."

davina harper
"perhaps you are."

from then on, they talked
about their dreams, what they
want to do in the future, and
everything in between.

no consequences involved.
none of that mattered as much
as this moment, anyway.

just two people with feelings
for each other, talking under
the stars, on a beach.

maki had realized that for
once, the stars have granted
her wish.

"thanks."

davina harper
"for what?"

"...for finding me."

davina let out a low laugh.

they were lucky to have found
her, you know?

davina harper
"no, thank you. for bein'
here, 'n stuff."

"and stuff?! such a big
moment ruiner!"

davina harper
"oh no, spare me, m'lady!
whatever shall i do if you
don't??"

"oh, fuck off, you."

they look at each other.
maki lets out a laugh, and
so does davina.

maki stood up, lightly kicking
davina's leg with her foot.

"come on, let's go, i want
to go home and take a
shower."

davina harper
"what?! can i at least stay
over, maki??"

"when i tell my mom about
us, i swear."

"now let's go, slow poke."

she just wanted to know
what love felt like.

davina harper
"you're sooo lucky i like
you."

"hm. perhaps i am."

and finally, she has found it.
