Tuesday, November 8, 1983.
After last night's events, I was driven home by my dad after he finished work. I had actually finished the whole history project by myself, no thanks to Steve, and woke up early the next morning to have breakfast and get to school on time. That's why today I was going to ride my bike there.
Once I got to school, I locked my bike in the usual spot, the railing just outside the entrance. Inside, I went to my locker, got my books, and searched for Nancy.
When I rounded the corner, Nancy stood before me with Steve Harrington, Tommy H, and Carol. Great. That's exactly the people I wanted to see this morning.
"Hey, Y/n." Nancy spotted me before I even got close to them. She was standing in front of Barb.
"Hi Nancy." I smiled at her as I walked over to the 5 of them, not even bothering to look at Steve and his idiot friends.
Steve looked over at me as I came to stand between him and Nancy. He cleared his throat as he looked back over at Nancy. "Now, on to more important matters. My dad has left town on a conference, and my mom's gone with him, cause, you know, she doesn't trust him." Steve said, looking over at Tommy with a grin on his face.
"Good call," Tommy said after him with a chuckle, and they both smiled at each other. They were probably the most annoying popular boys at Hawkins High.
"So, are you in?" Steve said, talking only to Nancy. Not even giving Barb or me the time of day.
"In for what?" Nancy questioned, her eyebrows furrowed.
"No parents? Big house?" Carol said to her as if the answer was sooo obvious. Like Nancy was dumb or something. I scrunched my face slightly when I looked over at Carol.
"A party?" Nancy answered with uncertainty as she looked back at Steve.
"Ding, ding, ding," Carol said, and her boyfriend, Tommy, laughed. Just watching those two was enough to lose a couple of brain cells.
"It's Tuesday," Nancy said with a confused face.
"It's Tuesday." Tommy mocked her, making his voice higher.
"Oh my god." Carol laughed. Those two were seriously starting to get on my nerves; they were just complete bullies which made a lot of sense considering they're friends with Steve.
"Come on. It'll be low-key. It'll just be us. What do you say? Are you in or..." Steve said, and looked at me with a somewhat disgusted look and then back at Nancy. 'After I finished the goddamn History project for you to get a passing grade, you look at me like that.' I thought to myself. "...are you out?"
"Um..." She looked at the ground, slightly shaking her head. Of course, she didn't wanna go; it was a Tuesday on a school night. Nancy didn't do parties on a school night. Nancy barely even did parties at all.
"--Oh, God. Look." Carol said, looking past Nancy, Barb, and I.
"Oh, god, that's depressing," Steve said in return, his hands now on his hips.
I looked over to see Jonathan pinning up a missing poster of Will. His brother went missing? I guess Jonathan and I haven't had much time to hang out recently. I had no idea.
"Should we say something?" Nancy turned to look up at Steve. I looked over at her, and her eyes flickered back to me, saddened for a second.
"I don't think he speaks." Carol answered with mock sympathy, almost laughing towards the end of it.
I looked over at her, my eyebrows drawing together. "Excuse me?" Hearing a 'ha' from Steve, I looked up at him as he stood next to me. He gave me a stupid, aloof look. Whatever that was supposed to mean.
