A beeping sound scared me awake. I opened my eyes to see an unfamiliar ceiling and looked over to my left to see a sleeping Steve Harrington. The kiss from last night quickly made its presence known again in my mind.
I sat up and rubbed my eyes. Trying to get it out of my head.
Did he actually mean that? If so, did that mean Steve liked me?
Questions raced through my head. "Morning, Y/n." I heard from beside me. Steve pulled me out of my thoughts as I looked over at him.
"Morning," I said to him. His hair was even messier this morning. That's funny, I didn't think I'd ever see Steve 'The Hair' Harrington with bedhead.
"Look about that kiss..." He began to say.
I swallowed. "No, it's okay. You probably just needed someone to be there for you, and you weren't in the right mindset. I mean...that whole fight last night with Nancy." I said to him.
He sighed. I really can't read this guy.
Does he regret it? Or did he want it to happen? This is so confusing.
"Yeah. You're right." He said as he sat up.
"Well, I'm gonna go get dressed." I said to him, exiting his room to get dressed in the bathroom.
After getting dressed and eating some breakfast, Steve drove us to school. He wanted me to stay with him as much as I could because without Nancy, he would be alone. And honestly same. Luckily, we were in most of our classes together.
I was watching Steve play basketball from the stands in the gym. I watched as Billy stole the ball from Steve and scored a point.
"Steve." I heard someone say. Steve turned around and started walking over to the person. It had to be Nancy. He looked up at me and motioned to follow him. I got up and made my way over to him.
As we walked out the back exit of the gym, I could see that it was Nancy.
"What are you doing here?" Steve said to her flatly.
"What do you think? Where were you this morning? I missed first period."
"I figured Jonathan would take you." I sighed as I listened to them. Not this shit again.
"Wha-- what are you talking about?"
Steve scoffed. "Jesus, you really can't handle your alcohol. Uh...you remember going to Tina's party last night, right?"
"Yes."
"Okay, and then what?"
"I remember dancing, and...spilling some punch. You got mad at me because I was drunk..." Steve laughed. "And then you took me home." Steve looked over at me, and I looked over at him. I then remembered the kiss and mentally cringed. I felt so guilty.
"No, see, that's where your mind gets a little bit fuzzy. That was your other boyfriend. That was...that was Jonathan."
"I don't understand."
"It's pretty simple, Nancy. You were just telling it like it is." Steve had a smile on his face, but it was more to hide his true feelings.
"What?"
"Uh...apparently, uh...we killed Barb, and I don't care cause I'm bullshit...and our whole...our whole relationship is bullshit, and...I mean, pretty much everything is just bullshit, bullshit, bullshit. Oh, yeah, also, you don't love me."
"I was drunk, Steve. I don't remember any of that." Nancy argued.
I sighed, as I leaned against the brick wall next to Steve. I did not want to get involved.
