"You look so handsome," I tell Harry as I straighten the tie on his suit.
"Thanks Ni. You look lovely as well," he responds, pulling the white mask over my face.
I give him a small smile. We are currently getting ready for the masquerade at Styles Enterprise tonight. Harry and I stayed in bed all day, not feeling up to actually getting out of it, we were both thinking of tonight.
The past two days were busy. We spent most of our time going over the plan (or in my case plans) and getting our gear ready. We have all purchased in ear walkie talkies so that we can communicate with each other tonight.
Harry pecks me on the lips before taking my hand and leading me to the living room where the other boys are sat. They all look sharp in their suits and masks. Liam wears a gold mask, Louis sports a green one, while Zayn is showing off a blue one.
Harry pulls a black mask over his hair and settles it over his eyes.
"Ready boys?" he asks, looking at each of us.
We all nod and he picks up the small case containing our walkie talkies and opens it up. We all take the small piece and carefully tuck it in our ears, out of sight. We hide the talking piece in the lapels of our suits.
Next Harry goes back into our room to retrieve our guns. One for each of us. I don't know where they managed to get them from and I don't want to know.
I am hesitant to take mine and Harry sees this because he tells me, "You don't have to do this Ni."
This makes me take the unfamiliar object and tuck it into the waistband of my pants. My heartbeat picks up, me knowing that I am holding a gun on my person.
I may have to use this tonight. I've never held a gun before this except when the boys and I went out to practice shooting yesterday and I've certainly never pointed one at a person before. After tonight I could be a murderer.
I jump when Harry's voice invades my ear. He sends me an apologetic look as he was just testing our mics and earpieces.
"Everyone know what they're doing?" Harry asks us all.
I look at Zayn and we nod together. The five of us exit the flat and walk to the train. We are all silent, which is expected. I'm sure we're all thinking about the worst thing that can happen tonight, I know I am.
There are quite a few people that are dressed nicely on the train car with us and I imagine that Styles Enterprise will be packed tonight.
We have all decided to scope out the party first all while acting natural and waiting for the perfect time to act upon our plan.
Liam asked a few of the older coworkers a bit more about this party and they told him that Gemma is usually down at the party all night whereas Anne Styles doesn't make an appearance until later in the evening. Harry figures that she'll be up in her office so that's where he's going to go. Zayn will be going with him and Zayn and I have decided that I will come up after them.
Zayn and I have made up a simple sentence that I will say when I get on the elevator to meet the both upstairs.
All I have to say is, "This pint is magnificent."
The train stops and we all exit at different times. I exit the train first and slip easily into the large crowd. I stay in the middle to avoid the security and I see Louis as I am getting my coat checked. I don't spare more than a glance at him, making it look as if I am just looking around the room.
When I enter the ballroom I am shocked. There is a sea of people in front of me and I have no idea how I'll find Gemma in this mass of people.
I decide to make my way over to the bar and get myself a drink before I go to look for her. I order a pint and lean against the bar, scanning the crowd as I take my first sip of the drink.
I haven't heard from any of the boys yet, but I don't expect to yet. The plan doesn't start until I find Gemma.
I finish my pint before actually going off into the crowd in search for Harry's sister. The search proves harder that I though and after twenty minutes of searching I opt to call on the boys.
"Any of you seen Gemma?" I ask, scratching my face to cover my mouth as I speak.
"Mmm...not yet," I hear Louis reply. I nod and continue my search for the girl.
The sound of a microphone screeching silences everyone. We all turn to stare up at the stage where a girl - who I'm assuming is Gemma - stands. Her cheeks are red and they stand out against her white dress and matching mask.
"Sorry about that," she starts, "How is everyone enjoying themselves so far?"
The crowd cheers and a grin makes a way to her face.
"That's good to hear! I'm just here to welcome all of our new employees to their first Styles Enterprise masquerade! Enjoy your night everyone!"
The ball room erupts in screams and whistles as Gemma exits the stage. I make my way over, pushing through the crowd and muttering apologies. The symphony starts to play some slow music and people start to partner up to dance.
I spot Harry's sister talking to a few people and I need to ask her to dance before anyone else does. I tap her on the shoulder and she turns to me.
"Sorry to interrupt," I say, "But can I have this dance?"
She starts to giggle and I am confused.
"You must be new...I don't dance," she responds.
I need to think of something so that I can keep her distracted, if this fails then the whole plan could be ruined.
"It's okay," I say confidently, "Neither do I."
She eyes me but eventually takes my hand and I lead her to the dancefloor. People part so that we can pass and I see the shocked looks on their faces.
We stop in the middle of the dancefloor and she turns to face me. She wraps her arms around my neck and I rest my hands against her waist. I am aware of everyone's eyes on us and she looks nervous, so I ask her something to get her attention off of them.
"So how many of these things have you been to?"
She thinks for a minute, "Ever since I can remember."
"And you've never danced at one?" I ask astonished.
She shakes her head and sends me a smile, "You're the first."
"That's insane," I comment and we both laugh.
The more I talk to Gemma, the more I like her. I can see the resemblance between her and Harry. They look similar and they have some of the same mannerisms. I hope she will forgive me for tonight.
"Ready Zayn?" Harry asks in the walkie talkie.
"Yup," Zayn replies.
The plan is starting. I'm supposed to wait ten minutes until Harry and Zayn are upstairs before following them up. I'm getting antsy and Gemma notices because she asks me what's wrong.
I figure it's been about ten minutes, so I tell her, "Nothing. I just need to use the restroom. I will find you later."
I peck her on the cheek and excuse myself. I reach the edge of the crowd and I make sure no one is following me before slipping off to the elevator.
I keep looking around to make sure that no one is coming because I'm paranoid.
Finally the elevator doors slide open and I step on. I press the top floor button and the doors close before the elevator starts moving, bringing me upwards.
"This pint is magnificent," I say, leaning against the wall.
"Liam, now," Zayn yells.
