*Niall's POV*
Sweat covers my forehead, my hands are shaking, and my mind is racing a mile a minute.
What's about to happen next might surprise you too.
Have you ever wondered what your future is like; if you can control it or not? Well, you can...but not in the way that you might think. This one choice can transform your whole life in a matter of seconds.
In just a few minutes, I will walk into that metal office. The room will be empty with the exception of the metal table in the middle. There won't even be a chair for me to sit on. The table will have three things on it - three pills - on the middle of it. One will be red, one will be blue, the last one green. These three pills will hold the different options for my future, and I will have to pick one.
It is rumored that the red pill makes you find your one true love; you will be together forever, like a fairytale. The green pill supposedly gives you good fortune, while the blue makes you lose everything.
We all know that those aren't true. Everyone makes up different stories about the pills, but those are the ones that I have heard. Everyone's pills are different and the outcomes are never the same.
I'm probably more nervous than I should be. Sure, people come in skittish about which pill they'll choose, but leaving, everyone seems so sure of their choice. I am not sure at all. These pills can hold anything from suicide to riches for me and I don't know which I will choose.
"Niall Horan," a robotic female voice rings throughout the room.
The other eighteen year olds look around the room, trying to decipher who that name belongs to; who is next.
I shakily stand from the hard chair that I have been sitting in and make my way slowly over to the only other door in the room, aside from the one that I came in. Some give me grins - others more confident than most - while some murmur quiet, 'Good luck's' under their breath.
I push through the heavy metal door, my fingers stinging from its coldness. As I walk down the long hallway, my mind races faster, if possible.
What if I choose a bad one?
What if it doesn't end how I want it too?
I exhale deeply before pulling open the door. Just like I was told, there is the table; the three colored pills sitting, waiting.
The door closes and the lock clicks behind me. Once I make a choice, the door will be opened again. I approach the table, staring at the three small pills on the table. How can three things so similar hold completely opposite outcomes?
I stare at each pill in turn, squinting as if it will give me a hint as to what will come if I choose that one. Nothing comes, so I opt for the green one.
Green for luck, I pray as I pop the small tablet into my mouth.
*Harry's POV*
"Harry Styles," the mechanical voice calls.
I stand, holding my head up high as I walk through the door to decide my fate. I'm not sure which one I'll choose, but I have a feeling I'll know when I enter the room. The corridor seems longer than I expected, but I cannot help but think that my choice will be like a whole new start to my life. I can forget about my troubled past and focus on the future.
The door is now in front of me and reality hits me hard. I'll never see my family again unless it's implanted in one of these pills. I could choose a path that makes my life worse than it already is, or one that can make my life better.
I sigh and try to calm the growing nerves, somewhere; some other guy or girl is going through the same thing as me.
But as the door locks behind me and I stare at the table in front of me, my anxiety rises.
There is only one pill on the table.
It's blue.
