1989

Richie had not been able to sleep that night. He couldn't stop thinking about his best friend, who over the years Richie concluded he had a crush on.

His thoughts were soon interrupted by his alarm going off. He yawned before standing up and walking over to his dresser, debating what the wear.

He ended up simply choosing a queen shirt, jeans, and his black converse. He cuffed his jeans, fixed his hair, grabbed his bag, and began to head out the door. He didn't have the most complex morning routine, unlike Eddie Kaspbrak.

Eddie had not gone to bed at 9:00 PM that night. He instead went to bed at 4:00 AM because of endless thoughts he had been trying to push away for years.

Some were about his best friend or why all these kids were going missing. He was also concerned that the mole on his arm was cancer. When his alarm went off he began his perfect morning routine which was showering, changing, brushing his teeth, checking his fanny pack, taking his pills, and saying goodbye to his mother. "Bye, Mommy!"

"Make sure to stay out of trouble Eddie Bear. Stay away from that faggot, Tozier."

Ah, the reoccurring nightmare, he felt like he was being haunted. Everywhere he went someone was talking about Richie. Usually, it was stuff like his mom said. Eddie knew it wasn't true, Richie had confirmed he wasn't multiple times.

"I will." He lied before he ran out the door and down the driveway where Bill was waiting for me. "Sorry I took so long, I lost track of time."

"It's f- fine." Bill shrugged.

The losers club was exiting their last class of the middle school. "So there's this church full of jews right and Stan has to take this super Jewy test," Eddie explained to Bill and Richie, expressing his words with his hands like he always does.

"But how's it work?" Bill asked.

"They slice the top of his dick off." Eddie joked.

"But then Stan will have nothing left!" Richie smirked.

"That's true." Bill smiled.

"Wait up guys!" Stan yelled from behind them as he ran up to them.

"Hey, Stan what happens at the Bar Mitzvah, anyways?" Bill asked as Stan squeezed between him and Eddie almost knocking Richie over and onto a girl packing her stuff up. "Ed says they slice the tip of your d- dick off."

"Yeah and I think the rabbis gonna pull down your pants, turn to the crowd and say, "Where's the beef?" Richie joked once more as Stan rolled his eyes.

"Beep Beep Richie." Stan sighed getting ready to explain. "At the Bar Mitzvah, I read from the Torah, and then I make a speech, and suddenly I become a man."

"I could think of funner ways to become a man." Richie shrugged. Stan was about to question before he stopped Henry and his gang. Patrick was smirking down at them like they were first graders. "Think they'll sign my yearbook."

"I highly doubt Rich," Eddie stated.

"Dear Richie, sorry for taking a hot steamy dump in your backpack last March. I-." His sentence was interrupted by Greta running into his elbow.

"Oh look it's the faggot, stuttering bill, and girly boy." She smirked pushing him, Stan.

"Fuck off Greta." Richie scoffed, pushing her away from the small one as he realized she was going to hit the boy. "You harass him enough."

"What's the fun in that. You see I would bully you losers more, but I have other business to take care of in the girls' bathroom." With that, she walked away and Eddie turned to Richie.

"Thanks, Rich." Eddie thanked the taller one.

"Anything for my Eds."

"Don't call me that," Eddie said for the millionth time, flushing a shade and red as he held back a smile.

Eddie knew he would never stop calling him that, but it was worth a shot. The losers walked outside to the trashcans, dumping out all their folders and random shit that was in their backpacks. "Best feelings ever." Stan sighed out of relief.

"Yeah? Try tickling your pickle for the first time Staniel." Richie joked.

Eddie gave him a disgusted look before asking his friends a question. "So what do you guys want to do tomorrow?"

"Start my training." Richie shrugged picking at his nails.

"W-what training?"

"Streetfighter."

"Is that really how you want to spend your summer, inside of an arcade."

"Incoming your m-mom joke," Bill whispered to Stan seeing Richie thinking.

"Beats spending it inside your mother, ohhh." Richie joked turning to high-five Stan, which he didn't return and instead caught Richie's hand will an eye roll.

"Called it," Stan whispered again before. "How about the quarry?"

"Guys, w-we have to go to the.... b-barrens." Bill stepped in.

"Right." Stan nodded and the four teenagers fell silent.

"That's Betty Ripsom's mom." Eddie pointed out, realizing the mom staring nervously at the school as she hoped her daughter would come running out.

"Is she really expecting to see her come running out of that school?" Stan stated.

"I don't know. Betty's probably been hiding at home for the last three weeks."

"You think they will actually find her?

"Yeah in a ditch all decomposed, smelling worse than eddies mom's underwear," Richie smirked.

"Beep beep Richie." Eddie sighed.

"She's not d-dead, just m-m-missing."

"Sorry Bill, she's missing." Richie apologized quietly as he fixed his glasses. "I mean the Barrens aren't that bad. I mean who doesn't love splashing around in shitty water."

Henry and his gang suddenly appeared out of nowhere. Henry pulled Richie's backpack back and then let go, sending him flying as Patrick pushed Stanley on the floor. "Nice frisbee flamer." Patrick laughed.

"Give it back!" Stanley yelled, but of course, Patrick didn't listen and threw it to a kid on the bus. Belch then burped in Eddie's ear and pushed him.

They began to leave, Henry ran into Bill's shoulder purposely. "You s-s-s-s-suck Bowers!"

The three turned around slowly with smirks on their faces. "You s-s-s-say something, b-b-b-b-Billy." Henry mocked. "You got a free ride this year Billy because of your brother. The rides over now Denbrough."

Henry only stopped when he saw his dad. "Summers going to be difficult for you and your faggot friends." He licked his hand and then dragged it across Bill's face and walked away along with Patrick and Blech.

"Wish he'd go missing, but he's probably the one doing it," Eddie stated.
