Description:
The voices have been speaking to Wei Ying again, telling him to do the most unimaginable thing. He gets so close to doing it as well, until his husband comes home early and stops him before he can make the fatal mark.
⚠️ Suicide thoughts/attempt (heavy angst but happy ending)☁️☁️☁️☁️☁️
'He doesn't want you here anymore'
"Yes he does, he loves me and I love him."
'He preferred it when you were dead'
"Shut up!"
'Maybe you should make his wish come true'
"N-No, I'm sure he loves me...I'm sure of it..."
'His life has been terrible since you came back, do you think he wants that? He was once the best cultivator of his generation, yet you ruined that for him. You made him stay by you, and now look what has happened, he has been cast out of the cultivation world'
"May-Maybe he really would be better off without me in his life..."
'Make it happen. What is there to fear? You've already died before, what is the harm in dying again?'
"It really didn't hurt the first time, it wouldn't hurt this time either. Lan Zhan would also prefer it if I was gone as well. There is nothing that wouldn't benefit me doing it."
Wei Ying got up from the bed in the Jingshi quickly, pushing away what his head and heart were both shouting at him, only listening to what the voice in his mind said. When he rose from the bed, he knocked off a cup from the table on the side, causing it to shatter, shards flying across the floor in all directions. Wei Ying's eyes widened, immediately crouching and trying to pick up the shards, he doesn't want to cause more problems for Lan Zhan when he gets home. Some were big and some were small, the larger ones easy to locate and pick up, but the smaller ones cut his fingers ever so slightly.
As he picked up the shards, he noticed a single one that made his eyes linger longer than they had done with the rest. This specific piece was the biggest but it was also obvious that it was the one with the sharpest edge.
'Do it. That shard is big enough. It is like the world is telling you to let go of life, it even conveniently helped you by shattering a cup. What better moment is there than now when all the resources are right there?'
The voice was tempting. Too tempting. So tempting that he couldn't resist it.
Slowly, he reached over and picked up the shard of ceramic that laid shining in the sunlight. It looked so beautiful on the floor, looking like a piece of artwork, little did it know it was going to be used for something opposite to beautiful.
Wei Ying ran one of his fingers along the sharp edge, breaking his skin, blood seeping out. A sigh left his lips, the sweet release of pain feeling so good. He watched the blood slowly drip from his finger onto the white floor, tainting the pure colour with red.
'A sharp edge...perfect'
Wei Ying didn't really know what was happening in his mind, why he decided to do this, but it just felt right. The day before he was happy and smiling, just like every other day, but today something just felt different. It was like he was numb to everything, he didn't feel happy and he didn't fell sad, he was just sort of...existing. This is the times the voice likes to enter his mind, the resentment trying to make him do things he wouldn't even think of normally, it liked to strike what he was weak.
He stared at the edge of the shard, looking at it carefully, almost like he was examining it. His mind was muddled, not quite knowing if this was right or wrong. On one hand, Lan Zhan would finally be free of the burden that is him, but on the other, he wouldn't be able to see Lan Zhan ever again. He knows it's selfish to think of only his own feelings but he really loved his husband, even if he didn't love him.
