Description:
Wei Ying has been hearing the resentful voices flooding his ears for the first time since his death. They haunt his mind all day and all night. Even when he is sleeping the voices plague his dreams, turning them to nightmares.

'You killed them'

'It's all your fault'

'If you had just listened to them, they would all still be alive'

'You can't control it. You'll kill everyone else close you you eventually. It's only a matter of time'

'Everyone is gone and dead because of you. Your shijie, Lotus Pier, your family, the Wens, all gone because of YOU!'

Wei Ying was sat on the floor of the Jingshi, his head swirling as the resentful voices screamed, shouted and whispered in his head. Tears were soaking his paled face, hands pulling his already messed up hair.

The voices had started ever since he woke up. Lan Zhan had left when he woke up at 5am, too early for Wei Ying who woke up five hours later. Meaning that Wei Ying was alone, suffering in silence.

He desperately needed his husband but he could barely even talk, let alone move. No one was there to help him. No one there to hold him and tell him that everything was going to be okay. He had no way to get help or even call for help. His only option was to sit and wait until the voices disappeared or his husband finally came back from his clan duties.

The screaming got louder and louder until the dark energy from within, began to seep out and surround him. His airways began to tighten and his sight was turning blurry. He wasn't panicking though, he wanted it all to go away. The pain he was experiencing was excruciating, all he wanted was it to end, for him to have peace once more.

With that thought in mind, he slowly closed his eyes and let the darkness overtake his mind and close off his consciousness.

Lan Zhan was in the Library Pavilion when a worried Sizhui came rushing inside, sweat dripping from his forehead as he bowed to his superior.
"Hanguang-Jun, you need to come quick," Lan Sizhui spoke quickly, obviously in a panic.
"What has happened?" Lan Zhan asks, getting up from his seated position and following Sizhui, Bichen in hand.
"Disciples heard sobs and commotion coming from the Jingshi," Lan Sizhui muttered, his voice laced with worry and concern.

As soon as Lan Zhan heard the last part of the sentence, his pace picked up and began to speed walk towards his room. The only person that was allowed to be in the Jingshi was Lan Zhan himself and his husband, meaning the one in distress could be one one but Wei Ying.

Coming closer to the Jingshi, they both heard nothing. This confused both Lan Zhan and Sizhui as many disciples had heard the cries and told immediately, knowing that their Young Master's world was the only one in the premises.

Lan Zhan cautiously travelled up the pathway, leaving Sizhui to follow slowly behind, and opened the doors gently. They made their way inside and both their hearts dropped, breaking at the sight.

Wei Ying was laid on his side, knees tucked tightly to his chest, arms wrapped around his body. A wet patch had formed, soaking underneath Wei Ying's head from the amount of crying that he had done previously. A light form of black mist was covering his body like an evil blanket. His face contorted in pain, even when asleep.

Lan Zhan's eyes softened and made his way slowly towards his sleeping husband. It has been a long time since Lan Zhan had seen Wei Ying in such a situation and it broke him to know his husband was suffering again.
