Description:
Wei Ying ran across the battlefield when he heard his shijie's voice calling his name. But, moments before he got there, she was struck on her back by one of the out of control corpses. That was all it took for his body and mind to completely loose control to the resentment, until a sharp pain ripped though his chest, bringing him back to reality.
- Romeo and Juliet style (well sort of)

☁️☁️☁️☁️☁️

Wei Ying screamed loudly, everyone around him pausing their movements as their eyes widen in terror. Black fog engulfed the male, almost absorbing him within it, only his face somewhat visible. His hands were clasped tightly onto his ears as he fell to his knees.

A battle had broken out within the Nightless City after Wei Ying had tracked down the major clans and found them planning to kill him mercilessly. He had only tried to protect himself, how could have things gone so badly from then on? Now he was being hunted by the whole cultivation world and had no idea what to do.

His mind was dizzy and slowly loosing control of the resentment that he had build up inside, it taking advantage of his weak mental and physical state. Wei Ying couldn't form a thought properly anymore, his head frazzled with bad images and scenes. But, suddenly he heard a voice, the voice of his shijie calling out his name. His eyes quickly scanned the area, eyes landing on the flowing purple and white robes of his shijie. He couldn't believe what he was seeing, why would his shijie come to somewhere like this, knowing that it was a battle?

He soon found himself running towards his shijie, eyes focused on her and only her. He needed to get there, it was just too dangerous for her to be here. The corpses that were once controlled by Wei Ying, no longer listened to his commands and acted on their own impulses. With this in mind, his feet moved quicker and he closed the distance between him and Yanli. However, just as he got about ten foot away, he could see a corpse approaching her with his sword raised towards the sun. He went to yell, but it was already too late, the sword had already come into contact with her back. Yanli's body fell slowly to the floor, luckily Jiang Cheng was there to catch her before she struck the floor. Wei Ying continued to move, eventually reaching his shijie, tears already pouring down his face.

"Shijie..." Wei Ying's voice broke when he saw the amount of blood that had stained the ground and his brother's clothes. He couldn't stand to see his shijie suffering like this and it was all his fault. If he had just listened to everyone and gave up demonic cultivation, maybe his shijie wouldn't be hurt and the Wen remnants would still be alive.

With all these thoughts rushing through his mind at a million miles an hour, he began to feel his body surrender to the resentment. The voices that were always in the back of his head, grew louder and louder, almost to a screaming level.

'It's all your fault'

'She is in pain all because you couldn't control it'

'How does it feel to know the thing you were so convinced you could control, would be the thing that would tear your happy little family apart?'

A scream ripped through his throat, trying to block at the voices that were plaguing his thoughts. Although, his efforts were futile as the voices always overpowered the sound of everything else. Never quieting. Never leaving.

Lan Zhan had been on the other side of the battlefield, fighting on his own, completely unaware of what was happening to his love. Well, that was until he heard Wei Ying's scream of pain mixed with terror. His body spun around quickly, eyes widening as he saw his lover covered in a black fog, kneeling on the floor with his hands placed onto the floor in front of him.
