Zion
I sat up and looked out the open window. Mr Thompson had turned off the lights on his way out and Evans sleeping soundly beside me. He stayed with me I cause I needed help at night never snored at night so I let him. Besides, it had been so long since we had a sleepover.
Before Mr Thompson left, I had to pretend I was tired and needed sleep, but now he was gone. I sat up in the dark room waiting for morning to come.
It was very easy to dive into deep thoughts after what happened at the hospital but my mind was blank. I had options; there were my mom's messages causing me to have an accident, me nearly dying again after I promised my friends I'd be careful, talking to Emma Wilson and of course my mom's behavior.
I still couldn't believe that my mom showed up, and she was still a mess. I didn't know who to blame or who to support. My dad drove my mom into being who she is now, but after she left, she could have gotten help.
There was nothing that hurt more than she regretting me. I was ready to choose her even though she lied to me and yet she didn't love me. My eyes shifted to my hands and them back to the window. For a second, I couldn't feel anything, even the pain from my ankle seem to go numb.
"Zion?" Evans moaned.
I blinked rapidly, suddenly realizing it was morning. Evans rubbed his eyes and stared at me in confusion. He was an early riser, even without an alarm.
"Did you get any sleep?" He asked.
I ignored him and reached for the crutches beside the bed, and went into the bathroom. My mind was still numb from yesterday. In fact, I barely felt awake. I didn't sleep last night, but it felt like I was floating.
Today was a school day, so I brushed my teeth and took my bath in a hurry even though it was still early. Evans needed to use the bathroom, too.
It was really difficult to do with my leg in a cast bug. Instead of calling for, help I wrapped my injured foot in the plastic bag Kayla left in my bathroom. My shower was quick to avoid any water getting into my cast. I dried my hair, standing on one foot and leaning on my crutches. Having used them before, it was easy to get used to using them again.
By the time I came out of the bathroom, the room was brighter and I found Evan doing push ups on the floor of the bed room while listening to a motivational speech through a Bluetooth speaker. I know he borrowed from Kayla; she was awake or Evans had gone to wake her.
"Oh great, you're out," Evan laughed and reached for a bottle of water next to the speaker. "Hey can I borrow some clothes for school today? I don't have what to wear."
He was sweating, making me wonder just how long I spent in the bathroom. When he noticed I was still not in the talking mood, he nodded and walked passed me to the bathroom. Evans didn't pressure me to talk. He knew that when was dealing with things, my reflex action was to close up to everyone around me.
"You can go eat breakfast. Kayla is making toast." He yelled from the bathroom.
Why was Kayla cooking by this time? It was barely 6:30. I picked out clothes to wear. It was obvious I would have to wear shorts for the next two weeks until my leg cast was removed. I picked out my black shorts and chooser a sweatshirt to go then I wore sock on my good leg and a converse.
Evans was still in the bathroom, so I dropped a black T-shirt and jeans for him to wear. He wore sneakers to the hospitals, and they went well with it. It was easy to find everything because Kayla had arranged all my stuff into the wardrobe in the room. She did it in the same way I would arrange it back home.
