Zion
I felt a slight pain in my ankle as I woke up from another wonderful dream about Emma Wilson. Maybe it wasn't a dream but just my mind replaying our conversations from when we skipped school on Friday.
Emma Wilson wasn't just beautiful, she simply amazing. And when she talked with that accent you could get lost in her voice and just be a my peace. We had so much in common and I wanted to know more about her.y phone dinged beside me letting me know I had a text message.
I pick up my phone to see it was from Emma. We exchanged phone numbers on Friday and have been texting each other since.
"See you at school Zion," it read with a wink and heart emoji.
That's right, today was Monday, and I was still in bed by 6:30 am. I quickly climbed out of bed and entered the bathroom. I cursed my leg for being injured when I was in a hurry as I got dressed. The good news is I was getting my cast removed this weekend and hopefully my leg was all better and I could walk again.
I unconsciously picked out clothes for Evans, thinking he slept over yesterday, but then I remembered he left on Saturday. It was strange that I didn't hear from him since then. I wanted to tell him about Emma. The more I learned about her, the more I wanted to know.
"Zion, come down and eat breakfast! Mrs Sawyer made pancakes!"
Mr Thompson hired a new housekeeper/ chef/ chaperone. He felt guilty after leaving his daughter home alone for days. She started working yesterday, but today was officially her first day. When I met her, she seemed like a nice person. I went downstairs and the aroma of blueberry pancakes hit my sense. She was definitely a nice person.
"Oh hey Zion, what's got you so excited this morning?" Mr Thompson asked.
"Good morning." I greeted, taking a seat next to Kayla.
"Dad's right, you look so giddy today," she said, keeping her voice down.
Kayla looked nice today, as usual. She really enjoyed wearing colorful outfits. Today she was wearing a cute yellow crop top and some boyfriend jeans.
"Emma Wilson texted me," I whispered.
"Really?" she whispered back. "What did she say?"
"That she'll see me in school today."
"Did she tell you why she skipped school for almost a week?"
"Not really."
"Kids, you're going to be later for school." Mr Thompson scowled from the head of the table where he sat.
I dung into my pancake and began eating. The first bite introduced my taste buds to the best blueberry pancake I have ever eaten. As if on cue, Mrs Sawyer walked into the dining room to pour us a glass of orange juice.
"The pancakes are delicious Mrs Sawyer." I say with my mouth still full.
Kayla stifled a laugh, causing me to laugh about my foolishness.
"Thank you." Mrs Sawyer smiled and walked out of the dining hall.
Mr Thompson was watching us when she was in here and, as if to judge what I had said, he reached for Kayla's plate and took a bite of her pancakes.
"It really is delicious. I shouldn't have chosen an omelette for breakfast." He remarked. "Do you wanna trade breakfast, sweetheart?"
"No thank you dad, enjoy your omelette."
We both laughed at the scowl on his face. Mr Thompson downer the rest of his coffee and kissed Kayla's forehead before leaving.
"I'll be home later today," he said. "Mrs Sawyer will make dinner. You kids make sure you go to bed early."
