Panther

Chapter sixteen: The actual Speedy.

Episode three: Welcome to Happy Harbour.

Today Robin zeta'd to the cave late at night and, well, I was bored so I followed him. The computer announced my arrival, as usual, Panther B02. Mustard boy and Aqualad were also at the cave and Miss Martian and Superboy who live here were somewhere in the base. Aqualad said, "Robin, you're finally here. Are we still going to try to convince Speedy to join the team?" Robin said, "Of course we are. I've tracked him down to somewhere in Star City." I asked, "Who's Speedy?" Aqualad turned to look at me like as if he hadn't seen me right next to Robin. He said, "Forgive me for being rude. I hadn't noticed you there." I said, "Aqualad, it's fine." He replied, "My name is Kaldur'Ahm, but my friends call me Kaldur." I asked, "That sounds like a mouthful, May I call you Kal instead?" He answered, "Of course, What can I call you?" I said, "Panther."

Robin said interrupting my conversation with Kal, "Any who, she doesn't know who speedy is. Speedy is Green Arrow's former sidekick." I said, "Okay, who is Green Arrow then?" Robin said in surprise, "How do you not know who Green Arrow is?!" I shrugged without any answers to that. He said, "When we get back to Gotham, I am going to teach you about everyone in the Justice League. I thought you wouldn't know the rarely mentioned ones but turns out you only know who Batman is." The zeta tube announced Kid Flash's arrival, Kid Flash B03. Kid said, "Am I the last one here?" Robin gave him the 'Are you serious?' face and said, "Come on, let's go get Speedy." He went and pressed some buttons on the zeta tubes and I asked, "Can I come with?" Kid Flash who was clearly still very afraid of me, said, "Sure Panther." So, Robin entered the zeta tube. Followed by me, then Kid Flash and lastly Aqua lad. We reached Star City and Robin said, "Follow me, he's close by."

We reached an alley and found Speedy surrounded by thugs. Everyone rushed to help him and I wanted to stay out of it. But I unfortunately haven't punched someone in the face for a long time. So, I joined the fight, which was apparently just beginning. I decided to not use my whip. Just hand to hand combat. I roundhouse kicked a thug, punched another one in the face, disarmed a few of them while throwing the guns I collect into one huge pile. Aqualad said something about the new team that I didn't quite care about. Then, I took a good look at who he was talking to, and saw that he clearly wasn't going to join, not now and definitely not ever. But, I can't squash everyone's hopes and dreams just like that. So, I kept quiet and decided to listen to the conversation.

"The cave is perfect, " Aqualad said, "it has everything the team will need."

Robin replied, "For covert missions, You know, for spy stuff."

Kid Flash said, "And wait till you meet Superboy, Panther and Miss Martian. But, I saw Miss Martian first."

Speedy shot an arrow at a huge guy and some pinkish goo came out and trapped him in place, it was so freaked awesome. This Speedy guy had found a way to store high density polyurethane foam in a single arrow, he's officially the coolest sidekick in my eyes. I said, "High density polyurethane foam. Cool!" I realized that Kid Flash had said the same thing as me except he ended with, "Nice!" I looked at Kid Flash and he looked back at me. Speedy aimed an arrow at me and asked, "Who are you?" That's what I get for helping out. Robin stood infront me with his hands up in surrender and said, "Hey, hey, Speedy, it's okay, she's on the team too." I said, "Yes, I'm on the team too. Nice to formally meet you, I'm Panther." He asked, "Are they picking up strays now?" I said, "You know, that is a good question."

Robin asked, "So anyway, Speedy, You in?" He was still standing in front of me because Speedy was still pointing his bow and arrow at me. We had already established the fact that I'm not hostile so why am I still the target of one of his arrows? He finally set it down and said, "Pass. I'm done letting Arrow and the Justice League tell me what to do. I don't need a babysitter or a clubhouse to hang out with other kids. You're junior justice league is a joke, something to keep you busy and keep you in your place. I don't want any part of it." He walked away after that. I generally don't care much about this team. And sure it's been nearly a week since we were formed and not even one mission but Speedy didn't have to phrase it that harshly.
