Aura's Pov

Maddox brought me home after I talked with Kailani. We spent the rest of the day watching movies. I even read a book. Maddox stayed with me. He was wrapped around my waist taking a nap as I read. I found it cute. When he woke up and I mentioned it to him he grumbled saying he wasn't cute that he was sexy. I agree with him there but I wouldn't dare bring that up to him

Maddox made lasagna and cheesy breadsticks for dinner. I always enjoy his cooking. He must have learned from his grandmother. After dinner I sat on the couch looking out the window. It was dark out and you could see some of the stars from here. The moon was shining brightly next to the stars. I wonder what it would feel like to be in space and gaze down at Earth? It must feel amazing.

Maddox sat next to me, placing his hand on my knee. I look over at him. He had a small smile on his face as he looked over me . I sit on his lap. Each of my legs on either side of his legs. Maddox wrapped his arm around my waist pulling me closer to him. Maddox leans in capturing my lips with his. The tingling sensation that was on my waist was now present on my lips. I wrap my arms around his neck. Our lips moved in sync while we kissed. Unlike last time I didn't push him away. The kiss wasn't fast and needy. It was slow and passionate. I pull away and rest my head on Maddox's shoulder. My eyes came in contact with Maddox's neck. I place a kiss on the base of Maddox's neck.

A shudder runs through Maddox as my lips make contact with his skin. Aria smiled proudly that we found the pot we would mark him. My canines come out grazing the skin.

"Can I mark you?" I ask, pulling away before Aria took over and marked him without consent. Maddox looked at me, his eyes darkening.

"Yeah" he smiled, his hands holding onto my waist. I smile back before my canines enter his skin. Maddox grunts in pain. His hands tighten on my waist. I retract my canines while licking the wound. The metallic taste swarming my mouth. Maddox eyed me as I stared at him.

"Can I mark you now?" Maddox asked hesitantly. My eyes meet his. I could see the fear of me saying no in his eyes.

"Yes you can," I mutter. Maddox leaned forward connecting his lips to my neck. Sparks ignite on my neck where his lips were. Maddox kissed and sucked on my neck as he tried to find the right spot to place his mark. Maddox sucked on a spot that made my toes curl. I let out a soft moan turning my head so he had better access. I feel Maddox's canines brush against my skin before they pierce through my skin. I let out a groan of pain. The pain was replaced with pleasure. Maddox took his canines out of my neck while licking the wound.

I felt our mate bond strengthen. I liked the feeling of the bond being stronger between us. Maddox and I went and laid down in bed. Who would have thought getting a mark would be this tiring.

When I woke up the bed was empty. The sun was shining into the room. It was mid-day. My body felt amazing. I wasn't exhausted like when I went to sleep. I could tell my body was healed from the forced shift. It usually took weeks to heal from that.

After getting up from bed I took a shower and changed into sweatpants and a hoodie. I walk down the stairs. As I got to the last few steps I was tackled. My back hit the stairs painfully. Aria took control. She kicked the person off before jumping up. I fought for control and was losing. I was trying everything Lexie taught me but nothing was working. I saw Kailani laying on the ground. The door was now broken letting me now I kicked her through it.

"Kailani. You gotta get out of here. I can't get control back!" I say through the link hoping it gets to her. Kailani looks up at me nodding her head before running off. Aria chased after her. Kailani dodged pack members as we got closer to the packhouse. Aria paid no mind to the pack members as they all stopped and watched.

I tried to take control back but Aria didn't budge. "Aria, you gotta stop, it's Kailani!" I shout at her. If Aria heard me she chose to ignore me. I watched as Kailani tripped and fell. No! My heart was beating rapidly. Aria leapt into the air and shifted. I took that moment to take control back when she was focused on shifting. I changed my direction and landed beside Kailani. I look at Kailani. She let out a breath of relief. She leaned back onto the ground. Lexie and Maddox came running out of the packhouse. Lexie threw me some clothes. I shift and change.

"What the hell Lani!" I shout. Kailani looked up at me apologetically. I run my hand through my hair. I watched Kailani sit up and Lexie helped her stand. "Aria could have fucking killed you!" I screamed. I was so close to losing her. Kailani walked closer to me.

"I'm sorry, Aura. I didn't realize how fast I was running and then I tackled you by accident" Kailani says, reaching out to me. I step back avoiding her though.

"Did you see how fucking close Aria was to killing you? I couldn't get control back. Lani, you gotta stay away from me for a while. Aria is still enraged still" I mutter, turning around and walking away. Everyone that was outside was now staring at my retreating figure. I put on the hood of the new hoodie I was wearing. Maddox's scent filled my nose.

Maddox appeared beside me. He walked with me quietly. After a few moments of him battling with himself he grabbed my hand. He didn't have his wall up and I could hear his thoughts. He didn't want me to snap at him for holding my hand. I clutched onto his hand. Aria was already relaxing at his touch. Aura's touch was electrifying. I don't think I would ever get used to it

"Your thoughts are cute," I mutter. Maddox looked over at me, smiling before he put up his wall. I put my wall down. I don't think I will get used to your touch either or the fact that I have a very caring mate who is very patient with me. I sent him a smirk. Maddox rolled his amber eyes at me. I stop walking, causing Maddox to stop and turn to me.

"I really am thankful you have been patient with me. At first I didn't want you as a mate because I wasn't ready to share my life with someone else. I had a wolf that I couldn't control and I'm still battling with that. I was always afraid that she would lash out and hurt you. I also didn't want any distractions from being able to escape from the real world. But being here the last few months you've grown on me" I say, playing with Maddox's fingers. Maddox gave me a smile as he wrapped his arms around me. His dimples were on display as he smiled at me.

"I'm patient with you because I understand where you come from. My anger comes from me instead of my wolf, besides we have the rest of our lives to spend together. I don't see the rush. We can take things as slow as we want and I would want nothing more than to see you happy" Maddox leaned in and kissed my forehead. I wrap my arms around his waist. I lean my head on his chest before muttering something I never thought I would ever say to my mate.

"I love you" Maddox's arms tighten around my body. I don't know if Maddox loves me but I do know he cares. The way he treats me lets me know he cares.

"I've loved you for a while now I just never said it so I didn't freak you out and ruin the progress we were making" He laughs. Maddox's chest rumbled with his laugh. I look up at him smiling. Maddox looked down at me and pecked my lips.

"Come on, let's get home. I'm starving" Maddox pulls away as his stomach growls. I gave Maddox a stern look.

"Why didn't you eat?" I asked. Maddox took my hand and pulled me with him. I follow behind him as we walk.

"I didn't want to eat without you," Maddox mumbled, Maddox went to open the door but stopped when he saw the hole in the door. He looked at the door before slowly turning to me.

"Aria kicked Kailani through the door, " I mumbled. Maddox shook his head with a sigh. His eyes glazed over before going back to normal.

"Someone will come and fix it in the meantime we can make a pizza" Maddox says walking into the house with me behind him.
