Aura's pov

The sky was still dark as I stepped out of the house. I was on my way to meet the elementals. Over the last few days we split everyone into 4 groups. There were about 60 elementals in each group. The groups had all 4 elementals mixed in the groups. We were splitting up to get the missing people so the witches couldn't relocate the other elementals if we were to hit each element one by one.

My ears pick up on the sound of the door closing behind me. I turn and see Maddox. He had a frown on his face. I walk over to him and wrap my arms around his waist. He wrapped his arms around me tightly.

"You were going to leave without saying goodbye?" He asked. I let out a sigh.

"I didn't want to wake you. You looked peaceful while you were sleeping and I know you won't sleep well when I'm gone" I say. Maddox rested his chin on my shoulder. His hands rubbed my back. "You got to let me go Maddox. I'm already late"

"Stay safe" he whispered. I nod my head while pulling away from him.

"I will. Owen, Kailani, Terra, and Blaze will be with me. We will be back and your mom will be with us" I state. Maddox nods his head with a smile. Maddox leaned down and kissed me.

"I'll see you soon. I love you," he says.

"See you soon. I love you" I say before pulling away from Maddox. The autumn air hit my skin now that I wasn't in Maddox's warm embrace. I tighten the straps on my bag before I walk to the edge of the pack border.

Everyone was waiting. Well my group was. The other groups left already yesterday. They had a longer hike than we did. We were going to Highpoint mountain. It was a three day trip. The other group was on a 4 day trip. The reason we weren't driving cars was because the places we were going were in the middle of nowhere with no roads. Once each group had eyes on the places we were going we would link each other and attack at the same time.

They all had bags. It had a little bit of food. Once we ran out we would just hunt and cook the food we caught. There were sleeping bags, a thin blanket and pillow. Some people had tents for five to sleep in. We had bottles of water as well. Again if we ran out we would get our water from streams. We would most likely run out of food and water. We didn't want to weigh ourselves down. We had a change of clothes. Soap for when we need to bathe in a river and wash out clothes and leave them out to dry when we are sleeping

"Finally" Owen says. He threw his hands up in the air. I roll my eyes at him. In my group the only people I knew were Owen, Kailani, Blaze, Terra and Seraphina. Even though Maddox kicked her off our land she was still going with us.

"Alright, lets go" I mutter. As we started walking people were talking amongst themselves.

"I can't wait to see my mom again," Owen says. I look at him. He had a smile on his face. "I was 7 when she was taken. Ten years and I hopefully get to see her again. Most people don't get that chance when someone is taken from them"

"That's true, but don't worry. You'll see her again" Kailani says. We walked for hours before taking our first break. We take a 30 minute water and lunch break. Once we were done we began walking some more.

Nightfall came quickly. Blaze and Owen pitched our tent while Terra, Kailani and I filled our water bottles in the stream. Since we were in the middle of nowhere the water was as clean as it could get. We walked back to our camp. The guys were done setting the tent up. I hand Blaze and Owen their bottles. They put them back in their bag.

"Blaze, a few others and I are on watch for half the night. You guys get some rest" I say. Owen looked at me with narrowed eyes. "Owen I swear I am sleeping tonight, So you can tell your brother that. I know he asked you to watch over me"

"I'll tell him once I see it. I'm on watch for the remainder of the night. Wake me before you go to sleep. If I see you sleeping I'll let him know" Owen says before heading into the tent with Terra and Kailani. Blaze looked at me with a raised eyebrow. I narrowed my eyes on him.

"For the love of god he has you watching over me too?" I asked. Blaze smiled while nodding his head. "I messed up my sleeping schedule once and this is what I get? To have babysitters while I'm away from him" I mutter to myself. Blaze laughed quietly. I walked away from him and over to a side of the camp that had nobody watching.

Maddox might have his brother and Blaze watching over me but I had Lexie and Ben watching over him. My eyes scanned the wooded area every few minutes. My ears were also listening for anything in the woods. Every hour there would be a noise but then a deer would run by.

"Luna, we can head to sleep now. I already got Owen up" Blaze says. I nod my head and follow him into the tent. I get into my sleeping bag and lay my head on the pillow. It was as comfortable as Maddox's bed but it will do. I don't know how long I was laying there but it was a long time before I finally felt my eyelids getting heavy. A few seconds later I was fast asleep.
