Love is much like a wild rose, beautiful and calm, but willing to draw blood in its defense.

My eyes burst open and I grabbed the first thing I touched. Hook groaned, startled at the sudden awaking.

"R-Red," he murmured, turning to me. He wiped a tear from my cheek with his thumb. "Are you alright?"

"I...uh...it's just wedding jitters...I guess," I said with a nervous laugh.

"The wedding isn't for another eight months." Killian sat up and rested on his elbow. The blanket slipped to his waist, revealing his chest.

"I know." His thumb still rested on my cheek.

"I'm right here. No one can hurt you."

"Whose going to protect you?"

He chuckled. "I'll be fine. I love you."

"I love you too." He pecked my lips. There was a pause. "Can you do that again?" I asked with a smile.

Killian leaned in again, his fingers moving to my neck. My head tilted to the side, deepening the kiss. My hands moved slowly, one to his chest, one to his hair.

"Ruby," Hook moaned against my mouth. "We'll have lots of time for this after the wedding."

"Yes, I know, but what if I can't wait that long?"

"Well I can't help you with that," he laughed quietly, pushing a strand of hair from my face. "Goodnight love."

"Goodnight Killian."

I awoke with a yawn and stretched my arms. Hook was by the sink, making a cup of coffee. He took a sip of the dark, bitter liquid and instantly spit it out into the sink. Hook wiped his mouth with the back of his hand. "That's disgusting, how could you people drink that!?" He bickered.

"You haven't tried coffee yet? And you've been here for how long?" I rolled my eyes.

"Well...I thought it looked strange. I've seen you make it before so I tried it."

"You probably made it wrong," I clucked with a grin. I drank some of the coffee he made. I pursed my lips. "Tastes fine to me." I crossed my arms over my chest stubbornly. "You, uh, look like you're going somewhere." Gesturing to the clothes he was wearing, I stepped closer to him. Killian wore nice dark jeans and a white button up shirt. He had a black tie wrapped around his neck.

"I...uh..."

"You're not seeing another woman are you?" I said jokingly, and then I made puppy dog eyes. "Would you really do such things to you're fiancé?"

He hummed lightly and drummed his fingers on the counter. "Ah. I love that word. Maybe I'll just hold off the wedding forever just so I could keeping calling you that," he smiled, amused. "My fiancé."

"I know it's not as fancy, but wife is much better."

"I'm going to...hmm...see David."

"Really?"

He nodded. "But it's a surprise."

"Oh, I like surprises. Well I don't have work today."

"That's good. I'll be back later to spend some time with you."

I cleared my throat. "How long?"

"Uh." He rubbed his neck then shrugged. "I'm not sure."

"So is it for the wedding?"

"Uh...I told you it was a surprise. I don't want to ruin it by giving any hints." Hook winked at me, which caused me to smile. He gently grabbed by neck and tugged me towards him and kissed the side of my head. "Goodbye. I love you."

"I love you too." I hugged him one last time before he left.

My jaw clenched, as the door shut behind Hook. My eyes wondered towards the window. The sun was shining brightly through my window, catching my ring and reflecting it against the window. I looked at it, moving my finger around to get a good view. Little rainbows slithered around inside the jewel. The real thing was though; what was he doing and what was I going to do while he was gone?
