Ashaangi TS The Family Affair
Part II
Not noticing Ashwin's change of expression, Ashvaa went on and complained about Shalini. When she didn't get any response from her father, she turned to look at her father only to find him looking at her with glassy eyes.
Ashvaa scrunched her eyebrows in confusion as she went on talking with her father but Ashwin wordlessly kept staring at her making her pause.
"Yenna pa achu? Yenna pathutu irukinga?" Ashvaa asked as she placed her hand on top of her fathers'.
Ashwin swallowed as he tried to keep his tears on check, his eyes staring right into his daughters'.
"Yennoda ponnu enga nu theditu iruken ma" Ashwin said with moist eyes making Ashvaa frown.
"Pa..." Ashvaa gasped and trailed her words as she tightened her grip on Ashwin's hand.
Ashwin said nothing but kept his eyes on his daughter as he removed his hand from her grip resulting in her frown growing into a tensed look.
"Enoda kind, compassionate, generous, sweet little girl who have always treated people with respect, who valued people's emotions...enoda andha ponna theduren ma...guess I lost her years ago" Ashwin said in a cracked voice as his eyes pooled with tears.
"Pa, yenna pa achu? Yean ipdi lam pesuringa?" Ashvaa asked reaching out to her father.
"Have I turned so blind in my daughter's love that I've failed to realize that my little girl isn't the same anymore? I should have focused on my children more than I have focused on my career! This is my mistake! Our mistake!" Ashwin said in a cracked voice, leaned down and buried his face into his palms alarming her.
"Pa..." Ashvaa's voice cracked as she placed her hand on Ashwin's shoulder, her eyes glassy.
Ashvaa got on her legs and kneeled in front of Ashwin as she placed her hands on his arms.
"Appa, please. Ena parunga, Pa" Ashvaa's voice cracked as she shook Ashwin softly, tears crashing down her cheeks.
After Ashvaa's multiple attempts, Ashwin finally looked up, his eyes red while his face blank scaring Ashvaa.
"Appa, ena parunga Pa. Yenna Pa achu? Ipdilam solathinga Pa... I-I-I can't...please" Ashvaa said wiping Ashwin's tears.
"Talk to me please. Enta pesunga Pa, please" Ashvaa said in a cracked voice on seeing Ashwin's blank face.
"You don't realize what you did?! Are you so self observed that you haven't even given it a thought of what you did that made your mother slap you? You didn't reflect at your behavior at all?" Ashwin asked in a defeated voice and on seeing Ashvaa's confused tensed face, he added with a sad chuckle, "Well, looks like we have failed as parents then"
Ashvaa's eyes widen as she heard her father's words. She gasped loudly, clearly taken aback by her father's words and her face shrunk with hurt as her eyes pooled with tears.
"Pa!"
"You verbally abused and body shamed a person! You made fun of her and threw her insecurities right at her face, putting her down in front of people and you think that's okay, Ashvaa?! You think that you did something cool? Is that how I-we raised you? Is this our upbringing?!"
