"Can we have a little break?" You asked as you rubbed your tired eyes and stretched your arms over your head.
"Should I get some snacks?" Chifuyu suggested.
"Oh, no need," you told him as you shook both of your hands from left to right. "I might just eat everything." You did not want to bother him by consuming their food stocks. Being hungry isn't an excuse to empty their fridge and waste the money they used to buy food for themselves.
"I can just get from the store," he told you as he pointed his thumb on the left.
Madoka quickly put down the ballpen she was holding. "I'll come too!"
"I don't wanna bother you—"
"Nah, I want some chips too."
"If you say so." You took your bag from beside you and opened it to get your wallet. After taking a couple of money, you proceeded to hand your share to to Chifuyu. The least you could do was share on the spendings to buy snacks.
"Maho, you should stay with Y/N," Chifuyu told her with a smile while he stood up from his seat. She merely nodded her head and gave him some money too. She tried hiding the disappointment on her face but you were quick enough to catch it. You felt like a third wheel right now because Maho looked like she wanted some time alone with Chifuyu.
"You think that's enough?"
"Yeah. Y'all want anything?"
"Ice cream please," you exclaimed.
"Chocolate and Coke," Maho said.
"Is that all?" asked Chifuyu.
"Mhm," the both of you—you and Maho—answered.
Chifuyu made sure he got his keys with him and walked to his front door. He turned his head to the side to look at you through the corner of his eyes as his back was faced in front of you. "Be right back." He made a small salute and with that, he finally left to go to the convenience store just around the block. You turned your head to face Maho who was still looking at the closed door. It was currently 4:35 pm on the wall clock situated on the kitchen wall. Baji dropped you at Chifuyu's apartment a while ago and proceeded to go to his own house which was just below the floor where you were currently at.
You were sitting on their dining table that had 4 chairs. The living room which was where the couch and television were located was just beside the kitchen, blocked by a divider wall. You supposed you could watch TV in the meantime while waiting for Chifuyu to come back. It was a surprise that you hadn't fallen asleep while doing the Math homework involving calculus equations with your group mates. The adrenaline from the motorcycle ride with Baji, which happened an hour ago, was still very much present in your body. You supposed that was why you were just a little tired from all the solving and thinking you had just done a while ago. You propped up from the dining table and made your way to the living room couch. You felt yourself relax at the comfortable and soft cushion seats.
"I'm just gonna watch TV, kay?" You called to her from the other side of the room. You got the remote control that was placed on top of the coffee table and turned on the box Television.
"Sure!" Madoka replied. She was obviously intent on minding her own business over there than joining you to converse or to watch whatever was playing on the black screen. Madoka was a quiet girl. She never exactly volunteered for school programs, officer positions, or even during class recitations. She wasn't a smart girl either; never went on the honor roll or had a grade of A in exams. You knew this because she had been your classmate ever since your elementary days. It was funny how you both transferred to the same school but never became friends or acquaintances with one another.
