Irwin sat with his friends in a dark room. He didn't know where he was, only that he didn't want to be there. He remembered his parents talking about sending him away, but he had no memory of where.

"How you doin', pal?" One small creature asked. The creature was a beige kangaroo with a giraffe neck and brown spots all over. auty was tapping its webbed duck-like foot impatiently.

"Hey, Ainsley... I'm trying to pick up the pieces of why I'm here..." Irwin rubbed his eyes. "Do you know where fish is?" He looked around.

"Got caught in traffic on his way here, he'll be here soon." Ainsley's words were slightly reassuring, Ainsley wasn't actually sure what happened to Fish, but he figured it'd be best to let Irwin hope.

"Thanks, Ains." Irwin lay on the cold ground, worrying about the blank spaces in his memory. The last thing he remembered was tying the noose.

"Am I dead?" Irwin's voice grew panicked. Ainsley didn't want to lie to him this time.

"I don't know." He hung his head in sorrow. A small blue whale with chicken wings, legs, and feet walked out from the darkness.

"Sorry, I'm late. Would you like a croissant?" The whale held out a chocolate filled croissant for Ainsley and Irwin. The kangaroo took a third and gave the rest to Irwin.

"Thanks, Fish. It's delicious." Irwin smiled, he had gotten up off of the floor so he was now sitting criss-cross.

"What's going on?" Fish asked.

"Irwin's wondering whether he's dead or not." Ainsley said with a mouthful of croissant, gobbling down what he had left.

"Hm, I'm not sure," Fish pondered, "Sorry, pal."

Irwin still could not see anything except himself and his two friends in a black room.

"I mean most likely you are, considering the last item of your memory." Fish crossed his wings in front of him.

"So, what do we do about it? Ainsley asked.

"Not sure 'bout that one either." Fish said. The whale looked at Irwin, who was now staring into the dark.

"Try not to let it consume ya, bud." Ainsley rest a paw on Irwin's knee in comfort.

"Easier said than done..." Irwin looked at the floor. "It's just so compelling." He looked into Ainsley's pitch black eyes. Ainsley's eyes were a different kind of dark. The kind of dark that's comforting.

"That's what we're here for, Irwin." Ainsley comforted him. Fish placed his feathered wing on Irwin's other knee.

"Always." Fish said.

"So, what now?" Irwin looked around at the chilling darkness.

"Now," Ainsley started, "We wait..."
