SHIP: MICHAEL X OC-
Michael sat in the science room, waiting for his lab partner. He really wanted to be able to finish the lab experiments today and he couldn't do that without his lab partner. Most could tell, that wasn't the only reason he got excited for science.
A young ginger lad came rushing in, sitting beside Michael. He was an average looking guy, slightly on the feminine side, and he wore a dark green sweatshirt with a Minecraft Creeper on it. Michael wore his usual. Gray shirt with a sweater and a jacket on top with a beanie on his head.
"Agh, sorry I'm late.." The ginger boy said.
"It's okay, you're here now." Michael smiled.
The ginger panted as if he'd just run up and down the stairs of the CN Tower twice.
"Um.. You okay Avery?" Michael asked, concerned.
"Yeah, yeah," Avery panted, "Just a little out of breath is all. Thanks for asking though."
Avery tossed a smile at Michael, which he returned. The teacher started talking about something to do with an upcoming quiz and the two boys pay attention to her.
Someone from the back threw a paper airplane that seemed to be a folded up note at the back of Avery's head. Avery unfolded it and much to his surprise... Someone calling him the T-slur. He was used to this, as a person who socially transitioned later in life than he would have liked to.
Michael saw the note and crumpled it up into a ball, tossing it back at the guy who threw it and hitting him square in the face.
"Dipnicky! No throwing things in class!" The teacher yelled.
Michael rolled his eyes and nodded, and the teacher went on with what she was saying. Avery giggled at the kind gesture. Michael didn't like having attention on himself, but he hated when people harassed Avery.
They'd been good friends for about a year, and it was no surprise that Michael caught feelings. Avery was the only openly trans kid at their school, so most people threw their problems at him. Slurs everywhere he went, he didn't care though. Honestly, Michael might have cared more about that than Avery. To be fair, Michael cared more about Avery than anyone he'd ever met.
Michael would often stare blankly at Avery during class, with romantic intent. Oftentimes, Avery caught him and would tease him about it. He hated to admit it, but he was in love with Avery.
The two had planned to go the park that evening. They'd walked there together and lay down on the green sodden grass beside one another.
"My favourite. Soggy ground." Avery said playfully.
Michael couldn't help but laugh. Avery's jokes always helped him out of a bad mood. Avery lifted his hand slightly to place it on top of Michael's open palm. Michael closed his hand around Avery's and the two smiled.
"Is it weird if I say I like you, Michael?" Avery said suddenly.
Michael thought he knew what Avery meant, but he just wanted to be sure.
"No, I like you too." Michael shrugged. "You're a good friend."
Avery scoffed lightheartedly.
"That's not exactly what I meant.." He turned his head to face Michael's. "I like you romantically, Michael."
Michael didn't know how to respond. He only squeezed Avery's hand more, making Avery giggle.
"I know you've had feelings for me for awhile, Michael." Avery sighed, "I'm not blind."
Michael tapped on Avery's glasses.
"You sure?" He teased.
Avery giggled softly. Michael smiled at him. Michael loved Avery's laugh. He could hear it over and over and would never get sick of it.
"Seriously though, Michael." Avery's face and tone had dropped a little. "I really like you. Would you maybe want to consider... being my boyfriend..?"
He nodded without hesitation. Michael had never felt this way about a person his whole life and all of a sudden that person just asked him out? Absolutely.
Avery tightened the grip on Michael's hand.
"Wanna head back to my place?" Avery asked, sitting up.
Michael followed his actions.
"Yeah, sure." He nodded.
"Care to.. stay the night?" Avery muttered.
"Sure, can't see why not." Michael said with a faint smile.
"It's a plan then." Avery kissed Michael's right cheek.
"Yeah.. it is."
