Why?

"I love you Steve Rogers", Tony said after breaking the kiss, "I love you too Tony Stark", the other whispered back.

Now

"Come on get up", Steve said and Tony whined, "Please baby let's stay here", Tony said and Steve narrowed his eyes suspiciously.

"Ok that's it, what's wrong?", Steve asked and Tony avoided his eyes, "Tony", Steve warned and Tony winced at the Captain America tone.

"Why did you save me?", Tony asked and Steve looked at him shocked, "Baby what are you saying? I love you, that's why I saved you, I can't live without you, Peter needs you, I need you, the world needs their savior", Steve said.

"But Steve I should have died", Tony said and something dawned on Steve, "Why did you snap?", Steve asked suddenly.

"What?", Tony asked, "You explore more options before death Tony, I know you, if snapping was the only option you would've used Captain Marvel because back then, at the start we didn't have many avengers with us, but now we do, so why?", he asked again.

Tony looked down, "I was scared", Tony said, "Oh my, what was that you were scared so much to sacrifice yourself?", Steve asked knowing the younger man's fear should be at the peak to do such a thing.

"When we were looking for the scepter in HYDRA, Wanda showed me some... some horrific things and from then onwards I always had nightmares. Especially after civil war it got worse", Tony said and got up from the bed.

Steve took a sharp intake of breath and got up himself, "What did she show you?", he asked remembering his own vision.

"All of you were dead, well... not all, you five, my first family who loved me, the Chitauri was coming through a worm hole like the one... the one I first went through and you, Steve, you were close to me with your shield broken", Tony said standing near the window and closed his eyes letting the tears fall.

He remembered seeing the same scene in the final battle, "And you were barely breathing and bleeding and when I knelt beside you... you said that I could've done more, that I could've saved you all from this and took your... your final breath", Tony said and opened his eyes gasping and saw his reflection on the window.

It was beautiful outside, Wakanda was absolutely amazing and peaceful, Tony turned to see Steve standing shocked.

"Steve?", Tony called and Steve sat down in shock and Tony guiltily turned towards the window looking out again.

Steve got up and walked towards Tony and hugged him from behind both looking at their reflection.

"I am so sorry Tony, not knowing this I fought you in the airport and... and", he chocked and Tony turned hugging Steve.

"Don't baby it's ok we both made mistakes and it's in the past, but I am still scared to sleep, I see your dying face and every time I wake up, I hope that the ground will swallow me whole", Tony said and wiped Steve's tears.

"I can't change the past, but I will do my best to make your future the best and peaceful Tony, I promise", Steve said and kissed Tony's forehead both looking outside, Tony cuddled into Steve.

"What did Wanda show you?", Tony asked after sometime, "I was back in 40s and the war was over and all were happily partying", Steve said pausing.

"Peggy was there and she said that I could come home, and we danced but I felt a detached feeling, everything was red and gold and I knew I was not at home. I searched for you all and I couldn't find any of you, especially you Tony, not seeing you made everyone vanish making me think that I was alone forever", Steve said and Tony looked up with a twinkle in his eyes but with a frowned face.

"Did you just say everything was red and gold?", Tony asked and Steve nodded, "Why?", Steve said and Tony pulled Steve out of the room without answering.

"We are gonna need some answers from the female Maximoff, where is the living room?", Tony asked and Steve lead him to the living room to see all were gathered by Peter.

"Tony you are ok", "Stark you are awake", "Man of Iron you are ok", all exclaimed but Tony's eyes scanned for a certain Maximoff.

He stomped towards her when he saw her and Steve immediately stopped him from jumping on her, "What did it mean?", Tony asked gritting his teeth.

"What do you mean Tony?", she asked in her perfect Sokovian accent, but with a known glint in her eyes.

"Don't play with me Maximoff, you showed us 6", he indicated the og avengers noticing Bruce was back to normal.

But he let it slide for now and continued, "The visions you showed us at the time of Ultron 9 years before, why did you show it?", he asked and og avengers tensed except for Clint.

"To make you all scared", she said with a tint of sarcasm, "Don't make me ask again Wanda WHY? It was not only fear, was it? ANSWER ME", Tony shouted and all flinched.

"Stark", Nat called but Tony lifted his hand shutting her up, "Honey", Steve said this time, "Not this time baby, I need answers", Tony said.

"First of all sit down Tony, you just woke up, then explain from the start", Clint said and Tony sighed nodding.

All sat down in the huge living room, "Explain why you are saying this is not only fear Man of Iron", Thor asked.

"Thor if it would have been only fear, it would have been mostly the things that happened or that the ones you are most afraid of", Tony explained and the og avengers nodded understanding a bit.

"But whatever she showed exactly happened and we had a chance to change it for some", Tony said indicating himself and Steve.

The others nodded understanding a bit more, but the others looked clueless, "There was also something else", Tony said.

"Wanda what the hell is he talking about?", Pietro asked his sister and she silenced him, "The colors", Tony said making the ones who had understood more confused.
