After several long hours of riding on horseback and continuing through the night, we reach the border at sunrise. Before us sits a stone wall that goes on farther than the eye can see. There's something off about this wall, almost as though it's alive.
Avalon takes notice of my attention towards the wall, "It was made by Cordovians with Earth abilities; that's why it doesn't feel natural."
Mateo steps down from his horse and extends a hand to the wall, pressing his pain flat against a stone. Several pieces retract to form a slight opening large enough for us and the horses to fit through.
I take in the first sights of Cordova, but much to my disappointment, it isn't much different than the miles of forests we just traveled to. We continue down the path with the weight lifted off our shoulders. We'd made it to safer territory.
"How much farther? No offense, Casper, but I'm tired of holding onto you for dear life."
The man on the horse before me chuckles, "None taken; I'm ready to breathe normal again."
"Not that much farther, just past this forest, and we will be right at the edge of the city." Lady Avalon gives her horse a reassuring pat before sending it into a gallop. Casper and the King do the same.

It's not long before the trees begin to thin, and a city becomes visible in the distance, sitting on the coastline of an ocean I didn't know existed. The sun has begun to set, shining beautiful orange hues onto the sea and city below.
"It's beautiful," I whisper under my breath.
Mateo brings his horse next to Casper and me, "Wait until you see it up close; Marsolem outshines any Aequalian city any day."
As we continue towards the city, we come across the occasional Cordovian. Mateo greets each individual, even knowing a few names. His actions surprise me; he is nothing like Elijah. Elijah barely even bothered to acknowledge those who weren't a part of his council. He seemed far more respected by his people than Elijah ever was.
As we continue down the path, the number of houses becomes thicker. People are out and about, no doubt, preparing for the Totum Fato festival. Women and men hang flower garlands around every tree, fence, doorway, and window. Two men on ladders are busy hanging a banner in celebration.
I smile, "You're right, it is beautiful here."
Mateo nods. No words are spoken, but there seems to be something that changes. I feel an electric current spark between us, which, indeed, is just his special abilities I'm feeling.
After many more handshakes and several "King Mateo! Welcome Home!", we finally make it to what appears to be the city center. And in the center is one of the most breathtaking buildings I have ever seen.
"Welcome to Decoris Castle; I hope you find it suitable Iris." Mateo gives me a look I am unable to decipher.
"Casper and Lady Avalon, please return the horses to the stables. I will escort our guest from here."
The King steps down from his horse, walking towards Casper and I. Offering me his hand, I reluctantly grab ahold and slide off the horse.
"Here goes nothing, I suppose," I whisper under my breath as Mateo guides me up the Castles's steps.
